Acer Sf314-41 power issue
by claws77
my laptop has a weird power-on issue.
Once the laptop has been powered on, it can restart/ wake just fine on battery power or Adapter, ONLY If i have not closed the LCD.
If i am running on battery and have closed the LCD (even momentarily). it will not power-on/ wake-up on battery power no matter the battery percentage.

but once i open the LCD and connect it to the adapter (even momentarily) it will wake up gain and I wont experience any issues till i close the LCD.

i do not know where to look for repair.
thank you all for any advice.

14V adapter for 19V monitor
by paparazzo79
Hi guys.
I ordered used LG 34UM88 monitor which should come with 19V 5.76 A adapter from LG.
I payed for monitor but sadly I got scammed it came with 14V 58W Samsung adapter.
Luckly I did not even tried to turn on monitor, but I think they used the 14V adapter.
Is it possible to use 14V adapter and what already damage could happen?

How do you trim a BIOS file?
by survivalbloke
I downloaded a BIOS file from Lenovo and once I extracted the actual BIOS from the executable, it is 16MB in size, but my IC(Winbond 25Q80DV) is only 8MB in capacity. I have read you can trim the BIOS file with a hex editor but I can't find any instructions on specifically what you will remove.

by tccyo22
Hey all,

I've got an ASUS laptop (Asus X409DL Rev 2.0) that had a little liquid spill on it however the majority was on the daughter board for the I/O stuff which is connected over a ribbon cable which I have disconnected for now. A small bit of liquid did however get onto what schematics and boardview show is a DC step down IC; a Realtek RT8249CQGW - markings: 2N=. There is no short on the main power rail as I have 19v with the charger plugged in however I have no other power, standby or always on rails anywhere on the board. Looking at the datasheet for this IC I want to sanity...

Repairing RX460 , VRM?
by 90Ninety
Hi guys

In my spare time to upskill myself I buy joblots if stuff to fix , or attempt fixing and get some experience

I have a r460 that I wanted to fix and give to my nephew
As shown there is a burned ferrite bead, next to a high/ low side VRM pair on the back side of the card

I'm gonna try replacing these pair of VRMs. I wondered how hard they are to remove
I have a decent sequire solder iron and hot air, though may need to get a hot plate.. Seems these VRMs have big contact plates and could be welded

Also seemingly...

by corrize
Hello, do you know what is this chip or where I can buy it please ? This is a main chip managing voltages : battery voltage in input and outputs are other lower voltages needed by camera.
I have 6-7 boards with this dead chip, but I cant find replacement parts. There is no brand, the number matching with nothing. The top is brilliant and conductive material (yes and it is ground). It's not a plastic like other chips.
In anothers nikon camera, there is this same chip, with differents numbers like 23250.

Macbook a1707 - 3 ports cycling and 1 stuck on 5v
by vanromic
Hello! I'm trying to resuscitate a Macbook that the local tech gave up on. I have the board view and schematic and have the main board out of the case.

Of the 4 usb-c ports, 3 cycle at 5V - they all go up to about 1.5A, then seem to switch off, back to 5V 0A, up to 1.5A, and off again. The cycle lasts a few seconds - maybe 3s.

The 4th port doesn't cycle and draws ~0.5A at 5V consistently. It seems it's the port linked to U3100 - it's on that side of the board and is the port closest to the battery and the CD3215C00 chips.

I've read that the CD3215s are...

EMMC programmer questions
by EazyBone
Looking to up my game a little bit, but these programmers seem a bit daunting.

Trying to get a device for EMMC repair, and it's very difficult to lookup all the words to find if I'm on the right track lol.

Trying to reprogram EMMC on Sony/Hisense mainly but would like to hit a few other brands.

My question is would either of these work? And is there a specific card reader I need for TV emmc? There is like 10-40 additional pieces that I can get but not sure what I actually need for my application only.

I may do eeprom as well. Can someone point...
