  • Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 7506 (2โ€‘inโ€‘1) I7-1165G7 that asks for a UEFI password immediately after power on and I no longer have the password. The BIOS needs the 8FC8 patch applied to disable Boot Guard and clear the password hash. Would greatly appreciate assistance on this. Thanks in Advance.

  • request: Dell Chromebook 11 3120 (CANDY) - Motherboard: DA20DA0VM1MB6E0 - Factory RMA Install Shim

Hello, I am performing an off-grid hardware restoration on a legacy, out-of-warranty Intel Bay Trail CANDY mainboard (Dell 3120). The local SPI storage block has experienced a severe partition corruption. Since the hardware has officially reached End-of-Life (EOL), I am blocked from using the consumer recovery utilities. Does anyone happen to have a raw factory hardware dump or an original factory repair shim (factory_shim_candy.bin) archived on their drive that they could share
    Thanks

    Hi All!

I am new here and hoping to get some help with my Dell Precision 5510. I am fairly certain that the BIOS is corrupt. I get no Dell logo, no POST, no option to get into BIOS settings. This started after disabling secure boot and attempting to boot from a USB drive. I tried using the firmware recovery steps provided by Dell and have not had any luck with that. So I think the next step is a direct flash to the BIOS chip(s). I have a CH341A arriving tomorrow to do a dump of the current BIOS. What will I need to provide in order to get some help recovering this BIOS?

Trying to repair this board for learning purposes. I have a working board as reference, but I am unable to figure out what is wrong with said board.
I'm no stranger to micro soldering and I have successfully repaired many other devices in the past, but I only know how to replace and solder stuff on well, not diagnose what actually is broken if that makes sense; i.e. I only have physical technical skill, not knowledge.

  • Feedback on my WSON8 soldering technique

    Hello all,

I just wanted to share something to participate in the forums. I recently soldered some 30 gauge wires to a Winbond WSON8 IC, so I could later read/write it (Bios IC). I didn't want to use hot air because I lacked the air station and the expertise, I read that it could be troublesome for unexperienced users and I could damage the board so I opted doing what it made me feel more confident.

As soon as I noticed the tiny leads I couldn't ignore the that that I could get away with soldering some small wires to it and save myself some extra work.

  • Dell BKD40 LA-D821P Rev.1.0 (A00) - Short at PL4

    Hello all,

    Hope you are well.

I have a Dell laptop that has no power, after some work with a thermal camera I found the cap at PU1400 (circled in white) north of the FAN header was cracked. So removed that and checked the shorts again. Most were gone, but I am see a short on the board side of PL4 Cap next to the DC-In jack.

The cap is showing as shorted. I remove the cap and the pad closest to the DC-in jack in showing M ohms, but the pad closest to the PC1121 resistors, is showing as 000.4 ohms I thought this is the ground pad, but when I looked at the only...

  • Hi everyone, Iโ€™m writing to ask for some advice/help. I recently bought a used Dell Latitude 5530 from a local marketplace. It worked fine for a while, but now it's asking for a BIOS administrator password that I don't have. I contacted the seller, but he doesn't know it either, and Dell Support won't help me because Iโ€™m not the original invoice owner.

This laptop was a huge investment for me and I really need it for my daily activities. If anyone has the tool to generate the master password for this specific suffix, I would be eternally grateful.

  • Hi everyone,

I have a Dell Latitude 3520 (11th Gen Intel i5-1135G7) on the bench.

Current State: The device boots fine. I have the User Password and can enter the BIOS, but all settings are locked by an Admin Password.

    Details:
    • Model: Dell Latitude 3520
    • Service Tag: 6PZTBL3
    • Suffix: -3FE2

Is a master password calculation possible for the 3FE2 suffix based on the tag alone? Or do you require a BIOS dump to patch the region?

Let me know if I need to read the chip and upload the bin file.

    Thanks for your support.

  • Hello everyone

I am looking for some help to unlock the BIOS of my Dell Latitude 3420.
It is currently locked by a dell security manager password prompt.

Here are the details displayed on my screen:
    System Model: Dell Latitude 3420
    Service Tag:2TVP4B3
    Suffix/Error Code:8FC8
    Full string shown:#2TVP4B3-8FC8

  • Dell Latitude 3440 - Service tag ending in 0001 - Locked!

BIOS password locked Dell Latitude 3440 (Service tag B4HNJX3)
Have extracted the BIN and want to know how to rebuild a clean BIOS

I have come across the 8F8C patcher but not sure if that would work in my case as the service tag ends in 0001.
I tried it and although the log states it patched several mentions of 8F8C in the BIN, I haven't flashed it yet in case such a patch wouldn't work.

Have also tried to extract a clean BIN file from Dell's .exe BIOS updates using 'Dell PFS Extractor', but not confidently; Ended up with a 25MB file instead of the same 32MB...

  • Dell Optiplex 3060 Micro USFF (IPCFL-CG Motherboard) - No LED / Short Circuit

    Hello,

this is my first post at Badcaps and in general i am new to fixing electronics. I am looking forward to learn a bit more about diagnosing and repairing :-)

What I have around is a DELL OPTIPLEX 3060 Micro (USFF), which is not powering on, even not showing any signs of life (No amber / white LED).
I got a original 65W DELL PSU / Power brick (PA-12 / 074VT4) which hopefull should be the correct one. I could get another DELL PSU with the Partnumber 0G6J41 with the same 4.9mm DC Jack connector as the one I already have, but I dont think that would help (maybe...

  • Help with BIOS update on Dell G15 5515 after chip replacement

    Hey everyone,

I recently bought a Dell G15 5515 with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and 3060 RTX. The BIOS chip on it was dead, and my hardware guy replaced the chip. After that, everything was working fine.

The BIOS is currently at version 1.22.1, and I wanted to update it. I downloaded the latest BIOS version from Dell Support using my ST: FQZMYJ3, but when I tried to run it, it says "unsupported system." I asked my tech guy what he did, and he said he took the chip from another board and flashed it onto mine.

When I check the BIOS using the F12 menu Flash...

  • Dell Inspiron 7506 Silver 2n1 - "HELLCAT 15" - No power

Hi everyone, I have an Inspiron 7506 laptop I've had for a few years, and it'd occasionally have a problem where after I'd power it off, it wouldn't turn on again unless I disconnected, drained residual voltage by pressing the power button, and reconnected the battery. It now seems to be occurring every single time I shut down the laptop and attempt to turn it back on again. I have done all the common troubleshooting steps, such as completely disconnecting the battery & CMOS battery and draining the voltage and leaving it for an hour, and I've even replaced the battery. This is definitely...
