• Re: Eeprom dump thread!

Interesting. What if we take it as bad, that won't be a problem if we don't write on that block, isn't it?

Edit: As I found I can manually discard blocks as bad blocks, so I discarded the 2073.

Edit 2: It is just temporary so not written onto the BB table. After I redetected the NAND the manually disabled block disappeared. Or maybe I did something wrong....

I think the software is buggy. After I turned off the bad block management and erased the NAND and activated back the BB management, the number of the bad blocks decreased to 7. I really hope this is their valid number.

137, 657, 1943, 2033, 2039, 2040, 2074....

I did it initially before I did anything (fiber glass pen + isopropyl alcohol), but I'll give it a second chance. Now I did it again.

Something I don't understand: when the software recognising the NAND the message is "loading NAND memory map for valid memory, total bad blocks: 1455". And when I fiddled with the "Analyze" button in the "NAND memory map" menu, a window popped up with "Warning, this operation will erase and overwrite all blocks, continue?". Yes, of course and the process...

No official BB list produced, so I managed to wrote down the BBs from the programs graphical interface. It is not less than 1455 (picture):

Sadly it looks like the FlashCat Mach 1 programmer doesn't provide detailed information about the bad blocks:

Connected to FlashcatUSB Mach, firmware version: 2.29
Voltage set to: 3.3V
Detecting connected Flash device...
Initializing Parallel NAND device mode
I/O mode successfully initialized
Attempting to automatically detect Flash device
NAND clock speed set to: 20MHz
Mode NAND X8 ASYNC returned ident code: 0xECD5847250
Successfully detected device in NAND mode

Thank you Lotas, I'll upload the dump later. Is the full dump is what you need or the main is enough (without the spare part)?

Is it normal in those Samsung NANDs if there are 60-90 thousands (!) of bit errors? I know it is less than 1% but it seems like fairly unstable....

Hi Lotas!

I am searching for a dump of a(n infamous) K9GAG08U0E into my boot looping Samsung UE40D5500RWXXH. The Board ID is BN41-01660B, the NAND's position is IC1302. The original content can't be read correctly as it differs on every readout due to the failing NAND chip. I tried the usual trivias: cleaning the chip's pins with 99.99% isopropyl alcohol and a glass-fibre pen, reading with different readers and different TSOP48 sockets, lowering the read speed, changing the USB cables to shorter and more shielded, changing the USB ports, changing...

• Re: Dell 2709W random colored lines/stuff

Google for "COF issue" (COF = Chip On Film). Sadly not a DIY repairable thing, special equipment needed. I have 3 of these COF failed 2709Ws.
