Hot side can be tested differently I've learned. Generally testing hot side you need hot ground and something else, but those.main caps can be tested DC.
No don't take apart the TV what you do is you take off the connector at the power board and then you stick the probes of the LED tester on the positive and negative part and they will light up and show a voltage across them you have to do it for each set if one of them reads short then it's your LEDs minimally
Also, welcome
Edit you have 3 led circuits to test at the top from the PSU picture...Last edited by EazyBone; Today, 06:04 PM.

Storms such as lightning strikes will destroy everything connected to your house, AC, fridge etc so it's not a storm.
Plug everything in as normal, test 12v like to main board and stby voltage. Are they steady and what's the numbers. Also what's the voltage on the caps you replaced.
If all those caps blew on the PSU I would suspect the PSU is somehow the culprit and start here first.
The symptoms you talk about though are super common main board failures. Vizio freeze logo and turn off has generally been a CPU issue. Buying a used board off eBay you will...Last edited by EazyBone; Yesterday, 08:11 PM.

Great thanks, will check this out within the week or so and post results. Got a backlog of tvs to handle :/
Thanks!

Also, taping method is sort of random, try to block 6-12 pins at a time. Only on one side at a time. Generally you are blocking pins on the left or right side and not the middle. Put some tape, plug ribbon back in, plug in tv, hit power see if a picture. Do NOT plug in TV or have TV plugged in when moving any ribbons, they will short out potentially.
If the TV doesn't show picture you can unplug the tv immediately and resear your tape to new pins, then replug in. Should go quickly.
Id say 90 percent sure it's a panel short. So don't buy any boards until you get all...

So I already ordered replacement PSU because obviously it's the PSU, and yes the original was dead
R915 is fine, is there a way to test ic901 in any way?
Always curious to try and fix a psu...

Additional update. The new board I got is for a 65x900e not a 65x850e
The customer said he replaced the main board (which is why it's x900e) and it worked for a long time until now.
Are these boards interchangeable? Someone have this data?

Yes, I'm feeling the need for some reassurance lol, I don't get any voltage coming off the octocouplers, I guess I'm looking for reassurance that it's not mysteriously the main board not turning on the stupid power board because sonys just suck imo lol
But all resistors seem fine, too late to check solder joints but will be a tomorrow thing.
I get your name now, damn sonys

Sony fw-55bz35f professional display
This Pro TV has no power. No light indicator or nothing.
I checked standby and all other voltages, it has zero volts on every point of connector.
Fuse is fine
Main cap gets 160v steady
I can't find any voltage on the cold side, the hot side does have some things.
Is it possible something has gone bad but didn't blow the fuse? Any direction would help. I'm pretty damn sure I should at least get standby... But these sonys mess with my mind....

Lo and behold I still have the TV and got a half working board that also needs repair.. stuck it in and image and sound everything works. Unsure what specifically is broken but going to probably send out the board to repair.
Does anyone have the EMMC file for this TV? I read lotas said Id is linked to something but if repair shops can fix it, how are they doing it....

Business card, I use cardboard one for edgeless because it'll allow a 90 bend instead of a stiff card. The foam tears through pretty easy. If you have a suction cup towards the edge of the screen as you slide and gently pull up it works great.
Just go to eBay and type tv foam tape, it'll show up. Generally the foam tape if you grab the very edge you can pull it up in one piece once the screen is off.. if that's the route your going

Definitely good to know, so now it's either the connector or the PSU. You can use continuity mode and test that cable from one end to the PSU connection point. See if it isn't broken some how. Whenever I change backlights on these tvs the connector into the lights get very brittle and break sometimes. Luckily I've been able to still use them all. Let us know what you find the problem is
