Hi,
I'm having a problem with a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 16ITH6H (PF2RC9BN) laptop. It powers on and the keyboard lights up, but there is no display. We had this issue before and it has happened again, but unfortunately we did not keep a copy of the working BIOS.
There is also an odd issue where the laptop does this once every three months....

Data transfer / backup
Hi guys, what software are you using on Windows for copying data files from one drive to another? We've been using Total Commander for a long time, but it often causes permission issues where we have to keep accepting prompts, which is very time-consuming.
We also tried Mint Linux, but from time to time it doesn’t work properly with Windows/macOS drives and shows no-permission errors.
What would be the best software or Linux distribution for this type of job? -
That area was cleaned, and I had to rebuild the whole top line as it was too corroded. I checked all connections and everything is good.
Regarding the battery, I have tested the board without the battery as I normally do, and it has always worked this way. The customer mentioned that the laptop had been left with no charge for about a month....Leave a comment:

MacBook A1707 - No power 20v
Hi,
we have a problem with an A1707 that came in for no power, showing 20V and 0A. The laptop has visible signs of humidity/liquid damage, as shown in the photo near U1100.
Here are the measurements:- PPBUS_G3H: 12.6V
- PP3V3_G3H: 3.3V
- PP5V_S5 & PP3V3_S5: Present
- SMC_RESET_L: 3.3V
- PP3V3_UPC: 3.3V
- RTC_RESET_L: 0.1V (not shorted)
- PP3V0_G3H: 0.1V (not shorted)

ASUS ROG Strix G16 G614J - No power
Hi,
I’m having a problem with an ASUS ROG Strix G16 G614J laptop that came in with a no-power issue.
Checked the main power line: the first MOSFET receives 20V on the drain (D), but only 0.5V on the source (S) and 3.5V on the gate (G).
Looked for shorts and didn’t find anything. I also tried replacing the MOSFET with an identical one, but the issue remains.... -

Macbook A3113 - Battery not detected
Hi,
I have a problem with an A3113 MacBook Air. After liquid damage, the MacBook had no backlight and did not detect the battery. I fixed the backlight circuit by replacing a missing resistor; however, I can’t figure out the battery-charging circuit issue.
Current measurements:- PPBUS_AON: 12.26 V
- SYS_DETECT_L: 0 V
- SMBUS_BATT_1V8_SDA: 1.8 V
- SMBUS_BATT_1V8_SCL: 0.6 V
- PPVBAT_AON_CONN: 12.26 V measured at the connector
I checked the traces, and they appear to be fine. I also replaced D5190 just in case, but there was no change. The battery connector had significant... -
ASUS ZenBook UX582L - no power
Hi,
I’ve got a problem with an ASUS ZenBook UX582L, the laptop isn’t powering on and is stuck at 0.08 A on the bench supply. The component shown in the image is heating up, but I’ve checked around it and there are no shorts on the nearby capacitors.
Both MOSFETs (1 & 2) have 19.5 V as expected.
Does anyone know what this component is, and could it be the cause of the issue, or should I keep looking further?... -

MacBook A1989 No power
Hi,
I’m having an issue with an A1989 board after water damage, it’s stuck at 5V 0.20A. I’ve checked the measurements, and all readings are the same across all four CD3215 chips. I replaced them one by one (using chips from a donor board), but nothing has changed.
I don’t need a fully functional board, as the repair is only for data recovery purposes.- PP3V3_G3H: 3.3V

AURUS 17X
Hi guys,
I’m working on an AORUS 17X (unknown board model) that won’t power on. I’ve tested with two original chargers with the same result. On the thermal camera, I can see one MOSFET pulsing/flashing as if it’s trying to switch on.
Both MOSFETs (1 & 2) show 19.5V as expected. I also replaced this MOSFET (CSD17559Q5) one which flashes, no difference.

Lenovo yoga 6 - LA-K211P
Hi,
We have a Lenovo Yoga 6 that does not charge when the battery is connected. When tested with a USB-C power meter, it only flashes. Both USB-C ports were checked using iBridge and all pins are fine.
When the battery is disconnected, the laptop powers on and runs normally from the charger.

ASUS FA507R - BLOD, cannot install windows
I have an ASUS FA507R in for repair where I’m unable to install any operating system. The laptop works fine when booted from an external Windows or Linux drive, but any attempt to install on an NVMe SSD fails.
I’ve already tested with three different SSDs (Gen 3 and older), and the issue persists. The laptop originally came in with a faulty SSD showing 0% health.... -
