iPad Gen 3 - Plugged in, continuously beeps as though disconnecting/reconnecting
    by Aimbit
The actual port is clean, and it is taking a consistent 930 mA, no dips.

Just did a battery replacement, the iPad did not work before either -- plugging in previously did a charging loop but went up to 930mA and down to 0, cycling, but it wasn't beeping at all. That battery is VERY dead, measured something like 24mV or something. So perhaps my replacement battery just has enough charge to make the beep, and the actual problem persists. Could this be a PMIC issue? It is not a Tristar on these but rather an Apple branded IC I believe.

Not that I suspect this matters, but...

How do I flash bios to an Alienware M16 R1 AMD edition?
    by Arc717
I am trying to downgrade my bios on my Alienware so I can undervolt & overclock my CPU, and overclock my ram. I need to get to bios 1.2.2 for this. Dell doesn't allow downgrades, and their bios file is an exe compiled in c++, so I can't decompile it easily. I am wondering if I can flash the bios manually using a usb flasher. I would like to know if this is possible, and if so, where the bios chip would be. I know flashers are pretty cheap and the bios chip is 8-pin. There are two of these chips only when I open the back panel of the laptop. I'm not sure if there are any on the other side of...

[Question] Ch341a and 5v to 3.3v with logic converter
    by md500
zz0.8tpitu4y0i8zzI bought a ch341a (I'm waiting for it to arrive) and I noticed that the programmer has a bug that the data pins go to 5v when the VCC pin is at 3.3v (which is the voltage I'm looking for).

Instead of doing the 3.3v mod, I'm thinking of converting the 5v to 3.3v with an 8 channel TXS0108E through the ZIF socket but I don't know if that would work, because it has to circulate voltage and also information.

What I am looking for is something that will convert from 5v to 3.3v but without modifying the ch341a.

    I can't buy the ch341a 1.6v that has...

Kenwood KDC 3051G Car Radio permanently stuck in Demo Mode please help
    by Omron
Hello Guys! I have trouble with my car radio Kenwood KDC 3051G I hope someone more knowledgeable can help me, I tried everything in my power that I stumbled upon online.

My radio is permanently in demo mode, it says Press Volume Knot Cancel Demo and when I press it nothing happens.

    - Tried to unplug radio and plug it back in into power,

    - Tried to reset radio by holding reset button key for 5,10,30 seconds while in power and without power, plugging it back in, it wouldn't work.

    - Tried to hold 3,6 while turning it back on and then pressing 1,2...

    Samsung QE82Q70RAT no backlight
    by sansanpartida
    Hi everyone!

Hope you're all having a great day, and thank you very much for stopping by and taking the time to read this post to help me with my parents' Samsung TV.

    My issue: No backlight.

    Model: QE82Q70RAT
    Type No: QE82Q70RAT

The TV was already serviced by Samsung once under warranty for the exact same issue, but six months after the fix, the backlight went out again. Now, Samsung is asking for nearly the same price as a brand new TV to fix this with the same 6-month guarantee.

So hopefully, I can fix this cheaper.

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
    by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

LG OLD55CX6LA TCON Short - Help Identifying Component
    by spookt
    Hi Folks

I've got a friend's LG OLED on the bench (well the dining table given the size of it!). It immediately powers off when turned on and sits in standby. PSU voltages are good and after disconnecting the TCON board there is stable 12V and 22V coming out of the PSU board.

Hunting around the TCON board there appears to be a shorted power rail (DVDD09_CORE) but I'm having issues identifying the component which is shorted. I've attached a picture. It's sitting before the coil so I'm assuming it's a MOSFET of some description, but the markings I can make out don't seem...

    by Ihandyrepair
    Hi

diagnosed - issue is the display/power button

on the board, with the multimeter I noticed there is a short to ground. as the red wire has 0 ohm to ground.
with infrared camera, this chip (photo circled) would heat up if I push power button on.
but I can't find any replacement or online info of this chip.
on the chip you can see it has a label GM2H, I have another good working display with the same chip but it has label GM2C

    Lenovo LA-K321P two "bios" chip
    by jasko_jacker
This motherboard has two chips one is UC4 -> 16MB which contains the main bios without the me inside, in fact if
use ME analyzer to check, it returns (see pics) "file does not contain intel engine/graphics/indipendent firmaware".
The second chip is UC2 -> 8MB, it contains ME data (see pics) and other things like PMC. If there are problems
like power management or ME, the chip to be rebuilt is UC4 and not UC2. Anyone confirm this?
I unzipped the exe file via this guide on the official Lenovo website

Retro laptop floppy drive not working
    by Satdude
Hi, I have a laptop with a Citizen W1D, an infamous drive in the retro computing hobby. They almost always have bad belts, such was the case with this one. However, after replacing the belt, the drive seeks and spins the disk, but the laptop still gives a "No bootable disk" error. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? The heads are clean and are able to move.

Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-54) No charge No power
    by earwig_nick
    Hello all,
I'm working on an Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-54) with motherboard EH5VF LA-501P with a short on the power rail.
I'm just learning board level diagnostic, but here is what I've found so far.
I injected 1.5v to one of the positive leads on the DC jack connector (PJP101) and read about 1.4a to ground.
I felt around for heat and found the MOSFET at PQB12 is rippin hot!
when i pulled the MOSFET from the board the short went away. In my mind it was a faulty MOSFET.
Ordered a replacement and got it installed only to find it gets very hot again and the short returns....
