I put it on paper, easier to calculate that way, by the way my notification lamp is connected at same fuse as my headlights and headlight switch.
Of course it turns on lights when I turn on lights on machine, don't want it to be running notification light non stop without being able to switch them off of course..
My question was what if I put like 5watt 12 Ohm rsistor? Will it do just as fine job as 3watt 12 Ohm resistor? maybe slightly better with heat dissipated?
Also, since more lamps are connected in this circuit, will they affect my Current drawn etc,...

Thank you momaka for explaining formulas to me, and to everyone else who was willing to help me.
I will sit down with piece of paper and calculator and do all calculations by myself again, its easier to learn once you dip the paws in how they say hehemomakaThank you momaka

Well I actually wanted to make this bulb dimmer, its shining into eyes during night, its on tractor vehicle, I thought that adding some sort of resistor would do the job, since bulb is sealed inside, I didn't wanted to take it apart and to put smaller one inside, but once it dies I will do it

I want to dim light bulb by 50% I want to learn how to calculate it on my own
I have a 5W lamp on 12Volts battery, I want it to be half as bright, so I will add a resistor. What resistor should I supply?
A = W = 5 = 0.416mA
_ _
V 12
R = V = 12 = 28.84 Ohms (R) this is resistance of lamp
_ _____
I 0.416
So I will add one resistor 28.84 Ohms
I will have 28.84 + 28.84 = 57.6 Ohms
Or 28.84 + 28.84 = 14.42 Ohms
I don't know if it will work in series or in parallel
voltage would be 6V and amp current mA = 0.208mA We divide everything by two
W= V * I...

I have two TV devices connected on this antenna, on both it works perfectly only issue is that this set-top-box is not listening when you want to turn it ON/OFF with antenna inside, you need to switch it on while everything is unplugged, after that you insert antenna cable and it will work fine yeah, but if you power it off with antenna cable inside, it will just turn off and not turn on again, until you check ABS10 chip with multimeter like in first picture, then somehow it heavenly unstuck itself and you can turn device on while antenna rf cable is not plugged in, and it will work, until process...
Last edited by Omron; 06-03-2024, 10:33 AM. Reason: I used pic from internet but its exactly like this model, nothing too much around it, 12V (It gives 15) but on RF cable where set-top-box is it gives 13V (its further away) but works just fine on othe

This is DVB-T2 signal, my antenna is supposed to have this amplifier on it, without it it doesn't catch any channel (pictures below)
My neighbour have exactly same setup with 13DC volts going into RF antenna cable, no issues at all, and on few other houses too. I have faulty set-top-box unit.
@truciacicr "I think the meter is measuring the body diode of the MOSFET chopper in U1. Can you tell us the markings on U1? There are 3 low voltage power supplies. Measure the voltage at each of the 4R7 coils. Also measure the voltage at the output of the SOT-89 linear regulator...

Thank you for looking up my case guys, I uploaded pictures with description, I hope it will be better and easier to understand issue now. Also Chip ABS10 is not hot, what was hot was that heater (uploaded on picture below). I hope its normal and safe to use though, don't want to catch fire or anything.. It was burning my finger when I put on it, couldn't hold it more than one second there. I wrote exact issue I have on pictures descriptions, hope someone will know why this happens, I would love to fix it and find the problem.
Board has name "JNMB1509M.R850.E168TV.VER1.1 "...

Need someone to look picture to say if this is normal or not [Uploaded in post]
Guys I have set top box which has no power on in specific case. When I insert antenna plug which has 12V on it because of dB gain device on top of antenna, device if its turned off, it will not turn on.
After I need to open the case and short + and - on ABS10 chip and after that device will turn on, without antenna plugged in, after its turned on I can plug in antenna and it will work fine, but I notice there is some extra heat inside the unit.
Is this chip okay? Rectifier bridge ABS10 JQC I don't think there should be connection like additional diode between plus and minus...

Looked into buttons today, buttons on side have 4 pins each, two are parallel in continuity and two across should be only in continuity when button is pressed. They have around 1200mOhm resistance and when pressed 0 resistance.
Found out the power button was basically always pressed in permanently, thus nothing was working correctly. What I did was cut small rubber tube and put it onto button, then spray with WD and with small screwdriver started to click it so WD ingredients go inside button and lube it up and clean it up.
After doing this for 20-30 seconds I checked with Multimeter...

Kenwood KDC 3051G Car Radio permanently stuck in Demo Mode please help
Hello Guys! I have trouble with my car radio Kenwood KDC 3051G I hope someone more knowledgeable can help me, I tried everything in my power that I stumbled upon online.
My radio is permanently in demo mode, it says Press Volume Knot Cancel Demo and when I press it nothing happens.
- Tried to unplug radio and plug it back in into power,
- Tried to reset radio by holding reset button key for 5,10,30 seconds while in power and without power, plugging it back in, it wouldn't work.
- Tried to hold 3,6 while turning it back on and then pressing 1,2...

VGA to DisplayPort adapter need help with wiring
I lost picture on my second monitor which has VGA connector and my GPU only supports DVI, HDMI and DP, so I used one of these VGA to DP adapters.
Can someone help me by telling me which wire goes where? I know the positions but I don't know the coloring. Images are quite bad but I hope you can see well enough. I made side A and side B for easier understanding....
