Pioneer PN50951-22U Backlight On, No Image
by x_orange90_x
I get backlights that stay on not there is no image. The tv does not automatically power on when plugged in either which I generally see happen when there is a fault. It responds as it should to the power button.

I checked the test points on the TCON and I have proper voltages except for at 1P15V. I don't know if that is supposed to be 15V or 5V, but either way I only get 1.134V on that point. I have 12V, 8V, VCC, and a small amount on the CKV point.

I tried heating up the SoC on the main board but that made no difference. Disconnecting either ribbon from the TCON also...

Completely dead MSI z490 tomahawk
by pavski
Trying to troubleshoot MSI z490 tomahawk board and would appreciate your help. The board is completely dead and shows no activity when the power button is pressed.

I have tried to look at the Superio, the PSIN signal seems to be correct (goes from 3.3V to 0 on button press) but the voltage on PSOUT pin is quite low. I

t is only 0.8V which seems to be incorrect but goes to 0 when the button is pressed.

Can you please let me know if this is indeed incorrect and what else should I look at next?

Thanks!

Lenovo Y40-80 bios
by goldhawks
Hi all, I have a Lenovo Y40-80 that I am trying to remove the Admin password for. There is a password screen that comes up immediately that I can input a user password for (Pic 3) and this will allow me access to Windows or the BIOS, but a majority of the options are grayed out in the BIOS (Pic 4).

I have attached a picture of my overall chassis and a close up of the chip that I have read (using CH341A and AsProgrammer). I output two files from the chip and compared them (fc /b) and they were the same. I patched the first file (the file felt like it processed too quickly) and then...

Guys I have set top box which has no power on in specific case. When I insert antenna plug which has 12V on it because of dB gain device on top of antenna, device if its turned off, it will not turn on.
After I need to open the case and short + and - on ABS10 chip and after that device will turn on, without antenna plugged in, after its turned on I can plug in antenna and it will work fine, but I notice there is some extra heat inside the unit.

Making a Handskit hot air station a bit less stupid

I bought one of these as it was the only one I could find that is compact enough to fit in my toolbox (though I've since found KSGER make a substantially safer looking one). It's one of those fan-in-handle things that has the 230V element in the handle. Quecoo briefly sold a similar unit but discontinued it.. maybe they couldn't find solutions to these problems. I'm aware...

Dremel 8220 turns on when it feels like it
by spleenharvester
I've got a Dremel 8220 here that's had maybe an hour's use on it tops from brand new, so the brushes are definitely fine.

The fault is it just doesn't switch on sometimes. This can be after you've just used it or from cold. If you pull the battery and re-insert it will fire up straight away, every time, so it doesn't seem to be a physical issue with the power switch. Once on it works perfectly until you switch it off again, then it's pure luck whether it fires up again or not without pulling the battery.

I've not really worked on these kinds of tools before so would appreciate...

Disable faulty soldered RAM on Acer A315-22
by mat2k
Hello, I've been googling for some pointers on this but couldn't find anything that applies to this board. I have an Acer A315-22 (board NB8607) with faulty RAM between 142 and 174mb. I just wanted to disable the onboard RAM altogether, but this one doesn't seem to have any memory down ID resistors or strap in order to disable it. I'm attaching the schematic I found, the boardview for it also seems to be available somewhere in this forum but I still don't have a use for it lol.
How would I disable the RAM on this PC? Thanks for the help.
