Acer Sf314-41 power issue
by claws77
my laptop has a weird power-on issue.
Once the laptop has been powered on, it can restart/ wake just fine on battery power or Adapter, ONLY If i have not closed the LCD.
If i am running on battery and have closed the LCD (even momentarily). it will not power-on/ wake-up on battery power no matter the battery percentage.

but once i open the LCD and connect it to the adapter (even momentarily) it will wake up gain and I wont experience any issues till i close the LCD.

i do not know where to look for repair.
thank you all for any advice.

by lofton
Hello, I was updating the bios on my t470 20jn pf1q6dx5 using the soic8 clip that came with the Ch341A on the bios and pressed the clip too far back when i was taking it out and it knocked off what look like little capacitors, can this be repaired or bypassed with solder or a wire or what was originally on there, they are extremely small. I have attached two pictures, one with the capacitors on and one with them off. It took me weeks to figure out why the board wouldn't power on. I thought I had broke the bios. THe machine turns on for a second then turns off.

Hello, I am back again, sorry for disappearing!
I was working on an Asus motherboard which might have a bad PCH.
So I had this Graphics card which seems to be showing something on the screen but it's full of artifacts, and I decided to make a new thread because I was in a wrong path!
I reballed the A0 channel, and then removed both A0 and D1 vram chips and the card is still showing the same artifacts with only a bit of change on the corrupt lanes.

I am starting to suspect the core.

I tried tserver memfa test but it gives me an error :[B] [error][Framework]...

by smaniak
The laptop won't start. When plug power supply, on 19V in gives me 0,14A, without turning on the laptop.
I check it with thermal camera, and there is one resistor that is very hot, I change the resistor with new on but the result is the same.
In the attachment there is schematic of the resistor area, and schematic of the laptop.
I can't understand, why this resistor is getting so hot....

Blown capacitor repair on MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT MECH OC
by MeetingIncapable
Hello,

I am new to repairing computer electronics, so excuse any mistakes I make.

A friend of mine had a broken graphics card (MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT MECH OC) and gave it to me. It does not power on or show any signs of life.
I identified what looks like the remains of a blown capacitor at the bottom of the board (see picture).

I wanted to replace the capacitor, but I have two questions:

Does this repair have a chance of working? or is a blown capacitor a sign something else is wrong?
How do I determine the rating/value of this capacitor?...

Eneloop/Panasonic BQ-CC63 charger - noisy PWM IC
by spleenharvester
I've had this Eneloop charger from new, and it works fine but has always made a really irritating ticking sound roughly once per second when more than one battery was inserted. I found the noise to be coming from the OB5222AG PWM DIP-8 IC. I tried replacing it with an identical part - the problem persists but rather than a ticking, it now sounds like a squeal. The problem is there are no spec sheets for this IC anywhere and no information besides it being a PWM IC, so I have no...

Citronic AC-1USB Output Too Loud
by Carm99
Hi
I have a Citronic AC-1USB.
When I run a turntable into it and then try to record it. The volume is too loud and distorting. In the red. Mainly 12” Singles. I haven’t tried a CD into it yet. I’m wondering if there is any way to bring the volume down inside the unit itself. Change a part or two. Put a small pot somewhere as there are no adjustments at all in there. I’m looking for the schematic but not found one yet.
Heres the circuit board inside.
Cheers

How to replace SMD blue Led with conventional red LED?

"I heard that a blue LED has different voltage values than green and red ones. Green and red ones are easily replaceable, but how do I do that with the blue one?"

"I have to use the blue one, because green means fully charged and blue means charging."

by benwaterson
Hi All

Been a while since I have been here, and a bit rusty.

I have the above laptop motherboard that was working and now the charging circuit is faulty.

Have 19v in fine until it hits PU4403 - not shorts I can see and thermal cam reveals nothing.

I have swapped out the ISL9538 and also the two mosfets (PU4403 and PU4405). Have 2.8v at the power switch, which pulls low when pressed - charging light comes on and goes straight off

Below are measurements (pin names are per the datasheet for the ISL95338 (couldn't find one for ISL9538,...

Hello,
I've got a SanDisk Ultra II 480 GB 2.5" SSD (SDSSDHII-480G)

Controller: Marvel 88SS9189-BLD2

Symptoms:
- the drive is completely dead, no response when connected to the computer,
- current consumption (0.01 A)
- under thermal imaging the only component that heats up is the controller,
- I checked the voltages according to the thread (https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=40329&view=previous) - all seem correct (typical 1, 1.8, 3 and 5 V).

Is there any chance of data recovery? I assume replacing...

Hello Guys,

I am not familiar at all with plasma tv's but i tried my luck anyway since business is so bad. We gotta try, right?
Anyway, the original problem was a tv clicking and not starting due to a short circuit on the Z-Sustain board (on the right side from the rear).
I found two transistors shorted (30F123) and changed the gate driver ic's as well. I think they were FAN73711. I soldered for dry joint on power supply, Y-Sustain and Z-sustain. Started up the TV and the short was gone so i had an image but.....
Lots of colorful speckles on the image and also there...
