  • Hi guys,
I don't know what I did previously but I over complicated things. There was a electrolytic (470uf 16V) that i had measured directly in circuit with my ESR meter and this was my mistake.
I measured fine in circuit but in fact it was 450uf @5 ohms. I feel like a real dumbass. Must have had a bad day. LOL. Check picture. This cap sits on the feedback circuit to the TL431 and opto. Duh?
So its fixed and on a soak test. Thanks for your comments guys.

  • Hi Davi,
I finally received all the parts that i needed to diagnose the fault.
The mains smoothing cap measures 215uf @ 0.62 ohms ESR (should be a 220uf), no issue there. I mean i do get 390V DC on the cap when PFC circuit is enabled.
I then changed the TL431, PC817 and the NCP1207A. There was no difference.
I am going to have a look now at individual components on the feedback circuit, one by one i will remove them and test them. Will also replace all electroytics just for safety.
I will also upload a full view of the power supply, perhaps it rings a bell for someone?...

  • Hi Davi,
I am definitely not having a nap.
I am looking for the NCP1207AP chip, i have alrerady got TL431 and also PC817 but i want all the parts before i reopen the tv.
I need to get it sorted out. Unfortunately i only get to work on weekends to do repairs as i have a primary job.
I will check you informed when i have more info.
Thanks for keeping an eye on me.

  • Hisense LCD42W60P Television

    Hi Guys,
I have this 2008 lcd tv that uses ccfl lamps. The tv is stuck on standby. This is what I have noticed. The standby 5Vs voltage is not 5V but rather 3.28V. There is a 14V rail as well but that measures ok. I put my volt meter on the 5Vs rail and switch on the 220Vac. I noticed that the 5Vs rail goes to 5.1V and quicky changes to 3 28V and steady.
I unplugged the main board and ccfl lamp wires and tested the power supply separate from the tv without load and put a 470 ohm resistor to the stby rail to force the tv on.
    1. Pfc circuit activates and mains smoothing cap is...

  • Hi Halen,
If the set does damage those ESD devices again, will you let this forum know. I am curious on the outcome.
