It was a Finnish electronics company until the 80's. It started in 1928, but the name changed to Salora in 1945. The present name has nothing in common to the original name. The VHS thing is probably made by some japanese company....Leave a comment:

Pins 3 and 4 have -18 and -13 V instead of those in the schematic. Others are almost exact....Leave a comment:

The schematic looks like correct, at least the conncetors have same name. Maybe the fault is in the PSU, as only sign of life is the red light in front panel.Leave a comment:

Need service manual for Salora 923N VHS machine
Does anybody have it, or does anybody know who made the unit? Toshiba and Sanyo parts inside.

Cheapo JVC stereo, separate parts. Only fault seem to be the very dim display in the tuner. Amp had a "fault": stuck speaker selector, and both pairs are not designe d to be working at once....

Got a third player which has working parts inside. Changed the the front panel PCB and the same fault appears. Luckily this has the case in poor condition, so I took the PCB from it, and it works with the 407. It's different but works. The IC is on the backside and such things.Leave a comment:

Can't be in the mechanism, as it works with another front panel. Tray opens and needs force to put back in agains the motor (didn't do that)....Leave a comment:

Removed the IR receiver but no change. Eject-button will open the tray to full open, but does not close and the tray motor continues to spin.

Saved from the dump. 29 years and one day old, as said in the sticker, it says 11-12-1995. The HD is gone, but otherwise working AT-computer with 166MHz Pentium.....

No change, the powerbutton works in the other unit. Only possibility is the IC401 under the LCD.Leave a comment:

Changing the Eject switch did not help. Still opens halfway, after a few seconds it opens fully. But don't come back in.Leave a comment:

This is weird, the mainboard is also working. The front panel causes the problem, all works with another front panel. Can it be just a faulty microswitch?Leave a comment:

Sony CDP-295/407 tray opens only halfway
The mechanism works in other unit, and the working mechanism does the same in this broken unit. So the fault must be in the motherboard. Eject may open the tray with a second try, but it will not close or play any disc. -
