The BIOS brand is INSYDE. Im very new to this so I dont have any experience to be honest. Hope its fine. Thanks a lot in advance.Hello everyone! This is my first post. by earwig_nickHello all,
I'm working on an Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-54) with motherboard EH5VF LA-501P with a short on the power rail.
I'm just learning board level diagnostic, but here is what I've found so far.
I injected 1.5v to one of the positive leads on the DC jack connector (PJP101) and read about 1.4a to ground.
I felt around for heat and found the MOSFET at PQB12 is rippin hot!
when i pulled the MOSFET from the board the short went away. In my mind it was a faulty MOSFET.
Ordered a replacement and got it installed only to find it gets very hot again and the short returns....Today, 06:07 PM -
by Kurgan77I found a short on a mosfet in the vrm and used my air station to remove the bad component. and after viewed my work and noticed that had also blew the cap above it off as well... it went to cap heaven. I don't need the boardview file just what cap values are needed to replace the component. This is on a gigabyte r927xoc-4gd Windforce. I am a novice at repairing as that was a rookie mistake, + side is removal of the shirted package cleared up the short.1 Photo

by AimbitI purchased some broken iPads (non-charging), trying to repair something a little trickier than retro consoles... I have all the necessary tools.
A1430 - Draws 930mA consistent, screen is black with red/empty battery icon, no charging symbol.
A1403 and A1416 - Draw 930mA, wait 3 seconds, dip to 0, repeat.
A1566 - Similar to the previous issue, it draws some power for a few seconds, then resets my ammeter, and repeats. Waiting for my lightning port tester to come to check the tristar.

by FrozenHaxorHey, I'm repairing a board from liquid damaged laptop, managed to get 5V and 3.3V rails up, some passives were corroded away. Only problem right now is no reaction to power button, there is no PCH_PWR_EN signal, DPWROK_EC is 2.5V, +1.0VALW is missing. Replaced KBC with brand new one, reprogrammed. No change. Any ideas? Schematic and boardview are available, attached them at the bottom. Boardview file can be opened by "BoardViewer" software.
Please don't mind the damage near UC4, it was caused by liquid damage and there is battery connector on the other side,...2 PhotosToday, 11:10 AM -
by kingblade20Hi,
My M3401QA does not power on properly: no display (all black) and with white LED charging port blinking slowly (once every ~3 seconds).
Checked several points across the board and supplies are up and running but I need to double check when I get schematic.
Result is still the same even with DC jack inserted and battery connector removed.
Tried flashing the latest BIOS as of this date to no avail which I suspect has something to do with DMI but tools could not run properly on my machine and couldn't find manual copy of DMI through hex editor and not sure...-

by bschwandHi all,
as subject line says, I have a laptop that reboots after 30 minutes. Investigation leads me to believe that is due to intel ME as it happens everytime after 30 minute from boot, it just turns off, no overheating, nothing weird.
I found a lot of information about cleaning ME like this https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/guide-clean-dumped-intel-engine-cs-me-cs-txe-regions-with-data-initialization/31277 and this https://github.com/corna/me_cleaner
Anyway, first step is to dump the bios. I found the Winbond W25Q64FV chip on the motherboard, dumped...-

by Perry BabinI think this has been answered but I couldn't find the thread.
Someone asked me if it would harm a capacitor (10F [not a typo], 24v) if it was operated on nothing more than 12v.
So, I ask... Does it change any of the capacitor's characteristics/parameters/? in any way if it is never operated near rated voltage?
If operated for years at 1/2 rated voltage, does it accept full rated voltage like it would if it had always been operated at the higher voltage?
Or would it require reforming?-

This has worked on many ECs.
Only works if password is contained in EC

by sewsulleGood afternoon,
I'd appreciate help diagnosing my A2442 that's only taking 5v and 0a
This was my personal laptop and I had closed it at the end of a class and opened it in the next class when it just didn't wake up from sleep (The battery was charged). I connected a charger later that night and it booted right up but touch ID stopped working. The next day it did the same thing but never turned back on when I plugged in a charger.
I though the touch ID issue was weird but I'm not sure if that info helps.
When this happened months ago I tried to diagnose...Yesterday, 07:56 PM -

by ScarfycakeHi all,
I sent my ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED (H7600, 12th Gen Intel) to the local repair guys to have a very simple DC in port replaced. I sourced the part myself on accessoires-asus (french company) after struggling to find the right part in the UK. It looked completely the same to the installed part from what I can tell. Originally the only issue with the laptop was a bad / loose DC connection, and so the computer and battery acted completely normal aside from a very poor connection that would fail at certain angles. After the repair was completed I brought it home and used...5 Photos05-21-2024, 08:16 AM -
Hey all
I have a set of FE buds, the right side will not connect, I don’t believe it is even charging..I am able to connect and get audio through the left, the case appears to charge itself and the left correctly.
The left has ~1.3v between the pins, the right side has ~-0.7v ..
This is wonky, surely? My assumption would at least be the same charging voltage, even if the..
can someone confirm that the earbuds polarity is different?
I may try and inject 1.3v onto the charging pads of the right, if it will take even a little charge...-

Hi everyone!
Hope you're all having a great day, and thank you very much for stopping by and taking the time to read this post to help me with my parents' Samsung TV.
My issue: No backlight.
Model: QE82Q70RAT
Type No: QE82Q70RAT
The TV was already serviced by Samsung once under warranty for the exact same issue, but six months after the fix, the backlight went out again. Now, Samsung is asking for nearly the same price as a brand new TV to fix this with the same 6-month guarantee.
So hopefully, I can fix this cheaper.

by matkHello, I have a question about electricity. Suppose I'm well insulated from ground and neutral, and the live wire of mains comes in touch with a wound in my finger, will this potential interfere with body voltages, hearth for example, or it will only go to its circuit return path ?
Thanks!Today, 02:12 PM
