  • Thanks for the feedback, bro! I was able to solve it earlier today, the problem was in my WSON tweezers that was not writing correctly. You can notice this after activating the verification on my ch341....

started a topic Alienware m16 R2 bios Dump needed

Alienware m16 R2 bios Dump needed

I received an Alienware m16 R2 computer with the cursed "Legacy manageability interface" enabled.

I tried to downgrade the version to the oldest possible one, as I mentioned in another topic > Inspiron 15 3530 bios

However, the machine wouldn't turn on! So I reverted to the original version 1.15.0, which I had already backed up.

I decided to try reverting the versions manually, using the .rcv file from the Dell website, and I only managed to do it with version 1.14.0.

The next day I thought about flashing a clean ME version of version...

Another machine like this arrived with the same problem, I tried to do it using these commands and programs from Dell, and I can say that it doesn't work! I believe that the commands are just to enable Legacy, as to disable it, none of them work, just placing an old Dump clearME, as I mentioned above....

Thank you for the feedback! I managed to solve it by downgrading to an initial version of bios 1.15.0, it just doesn't have this function in this version.

Has anyone found a solution for this? I've already had 3 identical models since this post, and none of them were able to disable this "Legacy Manageability Interface Access" function, not even by changing the "BiosPlugin#BiosRegion.bin" within mFit.

  • Yes, there are several claiming to do this, but only with the machine in hand! This confirms that the procedure may be a direct bug on the board, but I've heard reports that it's a patch made in the original dump as it did in the old models....

I have the same problem, I did the same procedures, and the settings in "Legacy Manageability Interface Access" are still greyed out. Did you manage to resolve it?

    Can anyone help with this?

  • I can confirm that there is a solution to remove the password from this model! However, those who own it keep it under lock and key, and they won't sell it or exchange it for anything! They say it's a patch, just like on older models, but they only perform the service with the machine in person.
Currently, the only solution is to replace the MEC1503 chip. I've already installed two T14 Gen 2s using this method. See my previous comments on this same post....

After changing the MEC1503 chip to remove bios password, I used the Lenovo program to write the equipment information, but I have the error when turning on (2202: Product Name is invalid.) The bios of the machine is the original! I've already flashed with other files and it didn't work. Does anyone know how to solve it or can you help me?

  • I post here my experience in this saga of removing the password from this damn laptop!
I bought again from another seller a pair of MEC1503 chips, after arriving I removed it from the same machine which I reported in this same post, and installed it, and the first chip when turning on the machine already gave me the option to enter the bios without asking for a password! Confirming so that you don't need to do anything that was said here, for example install dump with clean DMI! It worked perfectly!...

  • Can you provide me with a bios clean DMI so I can flash? I passed a clean ME and the machine kept asking for a password to enter. Can you clean one so I can test it?...

  • Continuing the saga of trying to unlock the password of these bios of this damn, I leave here my attempts, following the steps that I followed in this topic.
After buying 2 Chip MEC1503 on AliExpress, both came with defect, one was short and the other with password too!
So I followed the steps mentioned here and tried to read and write on this chip using a SAS (Vertyanov) and a unsuccessful RT809! The chip does not go out or read, but can be identified.
I leave here an updated image of how to enable the JTAG on this board, remembering that you have to insert all 5 resistors 10k...

Be defective and the other has a password! Ask me a question? Can I use a new chip or does it need to be programmed like the one I bought?...

  • After installing the second MEC chip, the machine turns on normally, but I had an unfortunate surprise! The chip sent by the vendor has a password to access the bios! I was deceived! I'm going to dispute on Aliexpress because these chips are not cheap. I'm very frustrated with this whole situation, I wasted hours and hours of my time to get to this point! I can't believe I waited for 14 days to receive 2 MEC chips with different defects. If the adm authorizes it, I'll post the link to this larápio's store here!...
