Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Don't bother with the chips, there aren't any good ones available. They're either failed reballed ones or just straight up fakes, and pretty much all the available boards if you can find any will have this fault sooner than later....

Re: lenovo y530 dead ite replaced - problems
It's precisely that, they put lots of scrapped boards in a steel tumbler with holes then heat the whole thing with flames, the chips fall off to a bottom pan, they clean them up later and resell as new or used, tested.
Anything "used, tested" from China means you get to test it when you use it. Avoid like the plague....

Dell Precision 7710 BIOS Request
Hello,
Attached is the original BIOS dump. Machine blinks 2 orange 1 white ("CPU failure"), much appreciated if somebody could get me a working copy for a test. Service Tag is 2MR9NC2.
Board number is LA-C551P Rev. 3.0(A02)
Thanks again....Last edited by FrozenHaxor; 03-17-2023, 12:31 PM.

Re: Aspire E1-530 black screen .
I find that rather hard to believe.
Whats the temperature on PCH when laptop attempts to turn on?...

Re: Dell Inspiron 5570 / LA-F115P AC Adapter not detected
When I plug in a Power Delivery adapter to the USB C port while in BIOS (laptop powered by the still undetected dell plug) it says AC Adapter=60W
I also am able to power up the board with just the PD adapter, although the board complains that the adapter is not 65W or above. I am also able to charge the battery through the PD adapter and the board recognizes the battery properly, also switches between battery power and PD power properly....

Re: Dell E5530 completely dead and MOSFET getting HOT! Please help.
You can get a raw cable that is being used with Dell power bricks, connect that to lab power supply, set to 19.5V then connect to laptop and observe the drawn current on the power supply. If it maxes out and goes into constant current mode then it's a true short.
As for voltage injection, Inject the + on the marked point where MOSFET resides, removing the MOSFET is not mandatory to do this unless it's shorted out. Remember no more than 1.5V to start with, we don't know if for example a...Last edited by FrozenHaxor; 11-03-2022, 03:35 AM.

Re: Dell E5530 completely dead and MOSFET getting HOT! Please help.
Measure the MOSFET between Drain and Source while it's unsoldered, is there a short on the meter in diode mode in both directions?
Are you able to measure total power consumption of the whole board? I.E. by connecting it to a lab power supply.
When MOSFET is desoldered, measure point +DC_IN_SS to ground in diode mode, is there a short? If There is, inject a small voltage, no more than 1,5V to start with and check what gets hot.

Re: Dell Inspiron 5570 / LA-F115P AC Adapter not detected
ACOK measures around 2V, according to the voltage divider on the schematics that's spot on. Added my measurements to a screenshot of part of schematic.
ISL9538 pin 24 ACOK "ACOK_CHG" = 3V
AC_PRESENT signal is 3,3V
ACAV_IN1 is 3V
Tested by fast charging a modern phone through USB C output as you requested.
OVP_TRIP_P1 = 3,17V
VBUS_P_CTRL_P1 = 3,17V
HW_ACAV_IN = 3V (without the phone on charge this point is 0V)...

Re: LA-G078P not charging
That does not apply here, if the Adapter identification part of the board was shorted by the transient diode, he would not get charging when the laptop is off....

Re: LA-G078P not charging
This behavior is typical when you use a lower wattage adapter type than the product calls for, can you post what is reported as the detected AC adapter in BIOS and what is the adapter recommendation written on the bottom cover of the laptop?

Re: Dell Inspiron 5570 / LA-F115P AC Adapter not detected
PS_ID and PSID are at 3.3V
I have 434mV at the base of PQ2, which appears to be spot on from the voltage divider calculation - not sure where the guy on video got the "always 48mV" from.
I have pulled the Enable leg of the UT7 high (to +5V) to test, and it works fine, rail gets powered up but the board doesn't like the bypass and shuts down shortly....

Dell Inspiron 5570 / LA-F115P AC Adapter not detected
Hey, I have a diagnostic dead end with this one.
Laptop had destroyed DC IN jack, most likely shorted the 1Wire bus to +19V since PD1 protection diode was burnt to crisp, nothing else appears damaged. Removed the damaged diode for test and replaced power jack, used known good power supply for testing and the laptop powers up, in BIOS it shows "AC Adapter = Not Installed" so a bit unusual, usually they show up as Unknown power so I assumed it completely doesn't detect AC IN somehow and sure enough the entire +3.3V_VBUS_IN is dead, no short. There is no +CCG_VBUS present either,...

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Then swap the blocks one by one until you encounter the faulty assembly. They are extremely modular. You're in the best situation having two of the exact same product with a goal to make one fully working.

You already have a good parts donor, transplant the power stage and you're good to go. What's the issue?...

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
You're quick to judge I see. Search results are mixed, with one semi-confirmed case and at least 4 that didn't work, hence why I asked about it to get a more definitive idea. I don't have the laptop, I would have tried it otherwise. I'm only supposed to make sure it would be possible on that model for now....
