I am trying to downgrade my bios on my Alienware so I can undervolt & overclock my CPU, and overclock my ram. I need to get to bios 1.2.2 for this. Dell doesn't allow downgrades, and their bios file is an exe compiled in c++, so I can't decompile it easily. I am wondering if I can flash the bios manually using a usb flasher. I would like to know if this is possible, and if so, where the bios chip would be. I know flashers are pretty cheap and the bios chip is 8-pin. There are two of these chips only when I open the back panel of the laptop. I'm not sure if there are any on the other side of...Today, 03:34 PM

Hello!
I am still learning on laptop repairs and I am currently working on the above mentioned device.
Currently the laptop is dead (no power on). The device takes 2-3 mA when 20v are injected onto the charging plug.
Main power rail is present (20v), but no other power rail is present, including the 3v and 5v. I noticed that when no power is connected the 3v and 5v coils have large (normal) resistence to ground, but when I plug the power, both are being shorted to ground.
I wonder is that an expected behavior or there is an outer protection activated.

Hi I have inherited the above desktop scanner, all seems to work correctly but there is no sound output. The only sound I do get from the speaker is the beep confirmation when you press a key. No output from the headphone socket either. Not even radio static with squelch fully turned down, tried a reset by holding 2, 9, and hold buttons but still no sound, does anyone have any experience with these scanners, thanks.05-13-2024, 04:12 AM

I have this synthesizer Studio electronics ATC-1 form 1996. It works well but there is some disturbing kind of sine (i guess) sound at around 8 Khz. For now I filter it out with an eq and can perfectly use the synthesizer. But I wonder what this could be. Any idea on what to verify (I only have a multimeter) or what to look at or possibly replace to understand where this disturbing sound is coming from an how to maybe fix it? The photos added are the synth inside and two print screens (synth switch on and synth switched off) of a software spectrum analyzer showing the two loudest...Today, 02:26 PM -
I recently purchased a used MSI GS66 with password locked bios.
If I'm understanding correctly, I can fix this by re-flashing the bios. Except I need a copy of the original bios because the updates don't have complete information.
Maybe I need to download my existing image and copy information (something something DMI) from there to the newest BIOS update downloaded from MSI?
Or maybe I'm supposed to request for the original, if any has it unlocked can they send it to me?

Pin 3 - 3v
Pin 4 - 3 v
Pin 5 without battery 3 v with battery connected 0v
Pin 6- 0.56v
Pin 7&8 - 8.44v
Have tried new battery and changed bq737
When BATT Detect SW is pressed pin5 voltage goes to 0v

Good morning I have a problem with my [B]Samsung UE49MU6120KXZT (Version 01)[/B] TV with Motherboard[B] BN94-12644A[/B].
After disconnection from 220V the TV remains switched off with status led off. I need information on how to proceed with reprogramming the flash memory and the BIN file to reprogram it.

Hi everyone,
I have been working on a no power issue with my personal ASUS gaming laptop. It went dead a few months ago.
Some history:
Since then, I've found a blown mosfet on the GPU line which I replaced. It started up without a battery, then when I added the battery back it wouldn't start up again.
As a result, there were some blown components around the BQ chip. (The BQ chip itself - BQ24780S, the low side battery mosfet (shorted), and a resistor -> all replaced)

When plugged in (no battery installed), the battery light on the motherboard lights up and then turn off. When powering on, the same and light and the power button also light up in a white color but no output on the display. It stayed like that for a few seconds before shutting down. I also seem to ruined a connector that connects to the WLAN, 2 USB and audio board, the same board also have a melted 2062A IC. I will post pictures in the reply section05-11-2024, 04:40 AM
