by loftonHello, I was updating the bios on my t470 20jn pf1q6dx5 using the soic8 clip that came with the Ch341A on the bios and pressed the clip too far back when i was taking it out and it knocked off what look like little capacitors, can this be repaired or bypassed with solder or a wire or what was originally on there, they are extremely small. I have attached two pictures, one with the capacitors on and one with them off. It took me weeks to figure out why the board wouldn't power on. I thought I had broke the bios. THe machine turns on for a second then turns off.

by cookSee the attached drawing of the chip I am trying to identify. I think the last character (the 'H') may actually be the manufacturer logo, but I am not sure.
This chip is part of a hand held device that detects metal. Its called a pinpointer, and is used in the metal detecting community. The chip is located on the main power rail which is from a 9 volt battery, noted in the drawing.
I tried many searches to find the part, but did not see anything that looked close. But then I have very little experience doing this and I could have easily missed something obviou...Today, 07:27 AM -
by smaniakThe laptop won't start. When plug power supply, on 19V in gives me 0,14A, without turning on the laptop.
I check it with thermal camera, and there is one resistor that is very hot, I change the resistor with new on but the result is the same.
In the attachment there is schematic of the resistor area, and schematic of the laptop.
I can't understand, why this resistor is getting so hot....Today, 01:24 AM -

by fixit007I picked up this TV that the prior owner said - just died.
Tested the fuse - burnt. A dead capacitor is visible too on the hot side (CP801). Got the replacement power board (cheaply - used). Replaced the board - the TV turned ON!
Now, about a month later (yesterday) I noticed the left side of the screen was flickering from time to time. That was already happening with the antenna input, not through HDMI.
Also, some glitchiness with a Fire stick on HDMI3 - I hit an app with quick dark screen in stick, the TV goes - no input. Then I had to choose the stick...Yesterday, 06:14 PM -
by GraphicManHello guys
Because the unit is old (but only occasionally used) the loudness button causes some noise due to bad contact,
sprays did not work, so i decided to solder the pins that it connects on the pcb at the on (loudness on) position
i did that and it worked fine, i know from the bottom of my heart that the switch connects 2 pins and also d/c other 2 pins
on every position it have (6 pin switch), so i was curious what would happen if i clicked the switch off while the pins are soldered at on (so basiclly on and off at the same time), when i did so the sound is gone, nothing...-

by benwatersonHi All
Been a while since I have been here, and a bit rusty.
I have the above laptop motherboard that was working and now the charging circuit is faulty.
Have 19v in fine until it hits PU4403 - not shorts I can see and thermal cam reveals nothing.
I have swapped out the ISL9538 and also the two mosfets (PU4403 and PU4405). Have 2.8v at the power switch, which pulls low when pressed - charging light comes on and goes straight off
Below are measurements (pin names are per the datasheet for the ISL95338 (couldn't find one for ISL9538,...05-03-2024, 03:25 AM -

by CapLeakerGot something new. Recently I got trouble with receiving emails and syncing OneNote. Nothing else. I still can stream 24x7, VOIP, have full speed internet, but in the world cannot receive any emails nor sync OneNote. Take the computer somewhere else to a different internet location and no problems at all. Points to the router, right? NOPE! Hooked up my computer directly to the modem (which is in bridge mode) and have the same problems! Put all the network shit back together, start my VPN provider app, choose the closed VPN server to me and all the problems are gone! Is...
