If you can navigate the menu well enough with a flashlight, go to picture settings and turn the backlights way down then turn tv off, then when you turn it back on see if it stays on longer, if it does that's a sure sign of a backlight issue, probably a bad/weak led or 2 or more. As mentioned that symptom is often bad led/s, tv starts for a bit then detects a problem and shuts down.

Woah, how did you miss that? Sometimes they just blow, I would build a dim bulb tester for a few bucks in parts, simple build, there's probably 100 how to videos on youtube, but remember the IC is most likely bad like RJ said. Replace blown parts and try it, if the bulb lights up bright and stays lit then there's still a problem. If it lights for a second or two then goes out or very dim then it's probably ok to plug tv back into strip or outlet and try it.Last edited by nomoresonys; 07-23-2024, 05:19 PM.

Not so sure about that, it can be hard to tell from pictures but at least a couple of those solders on those transistors look a bit cracked, I would touch up any joints that look different than a good joint, it's pretty simple: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-e&sca_esv=584cd96bcb8b380e&sca_upv=1&q=cracked+solder+joints&udm=2&fbs=AEQNm0Aa4sjWe7Rqy32pFwRj0UkWd8nbOJfsBGGB5IQQO6L3J_86uWOeqwdnV0yaSF-x2jpXXSZVlK6C0YPjHbsLu8HQlFjXJu4aVhI_llTnXJ4lFAWdNYSKl18X_OYOML0jevhpDEumYRwaaY1jEa7vKdTgiN-XUHVrwULe1SBpdZ2b2Qdf9JCr6vszwGWtXx6BBaAiRVuZU26XGXcLhLP1MT26u-HDM...

+1000, I don't use samsung tvs for obvious reasons but I have a couple over 10 year old tvs that never used any smart features/apps, just an external player like firetv, no problems with those tvs, do not recommend the fire players anymore tho, restrictions are sick....

Ok, think I have seen or read something similar but it's all a blur, my bad memory.

I hear you, samsung is a disaster, so the gate transistor is bad then? where is it located and how to test it?

I think by the time you have to spend testing to see if anything else besides the IC is bad, then you have to replace them without messing anything up, then usually have shipping and tax, a replacement board could be the lesser of the evils: https://www.ebay.com/itm/387007458094?itmmeta=01J3E24RQGMXZ91MZY26NM0XA1&hash=item5a1b712b2e:g:6PcAAOSwsW1mRLbq&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwNFD%2BleCjLlhdRolUvXtSiOIj0RC0EqQZnTgNKU22Ii9fb0qZVHHWcPJnwVIPMNz92nAXlQvnHfotk49yGUuh3KsEKu83MWLe38o2EptxNMUDOPbC8B4TfuOdU5cY%2F3gGX%2FLxxqxrBbGW9f0Sp6OUt0I9PmYiBHNsdSfGr2Q3nB4ulKdCkvmBignh8D%2FS%2Fl3q%2Bz5Ni...

Any continuity between legs equals bad, remove both and test out of circuit, probably will still show continuity which means bad, don't replace with new ones til you figure out what's wrong. A dim bulb tester saves a lot of money and time, the bulb lights up instead of blowing the components.Last edited by nomoresonys; 07-22-2024, 11:09 AM.

Can anyone go into more detail on this subject, so far it is not very clear on the issue.

You have it in front of you so you can see it best, images of bad joints there: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-e&sca_esv=3ba40bc8777e1f3e&sca_upv=1&q=bad+solder+joints&udm=2&fbs=AEQNm0BcOTtrxLAuu_QwMeob8rlZbzgoNyvm-EGzMCdSVm7atMhtCrLJ0m6k84h6T6DB016P3Aln0I7mw8h0z4ILkQ8VYnQc9vclr77uiyRGhg5wnrVwB8l5JEGpm3ZdSAdlEoLERIggaw392t1i488rmvupKw31-3BEM-sQoaRs7tqdW8knox0EMXiObwHckMjyX4KQDpQC-XmuytiOR6NGdTfsYU2Rtw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjAyp308raHAxUYmokEHTJrAUsQtKgLegQIGRAB&biw=1216&bih=541&dpr=1.09You have it in front of you so you can see it

Look over all the solder joints, some of them don't look too great, add a little solder to those that look suspect, careful not to bridge anything, search images bad solder joints if needed, it's something that should be done early in troubleshooting becuz sometimes it IS just a bad solder or two.Last edited by nomoresonys; 07-20-2024, 05:27 PM.
