by GraphicManHello guys
Because the unit is old (but only occasionally used) the loudness button causes some noise due to bad contact,
sprays did not work, so i decided to solder the pins that it connects on the pcb at the on (loudness on) position
i did that and it worked fine, i know from the bottom of my heart that the switch connects 2 pins and also d/c other 2 pins
on every position it have (6 pin switch), so i was curious what would happen if i clicked the switch off while the pins are soldered at on (so basiclly on and off at the same time), when i did so the sound is gone, nothing...-

I've had this Eneloop charger from new, and it works fine but has always made a really irritating ticking sound roughly once per second when more than one battery was inserted. I found the noise to be coming from the OB5222AG PWM DIP-8 IC. I tried replacing it with an identical part - the problem persists but rather than a ticking, it now sounds like a squeal. The problem is there are no spec sheets for this IC anywhere and no information besides it being a PWM IC, so I have no...05-03-2024, 10:08 AM

by sam_sam_samThis is another battery testing machine that needs to be modified for the cooling fans because these are noisy but not as bad as one of the other battery testing machines that I had modified recently because of it being too noisy
The battery testing machine is going to get two temperatures controlled cooling fans like one I put in the other battery testing machine I just have to remove the temperature sensor and relocate the temperature sensor to one of the heat sinks and put one on the other heat sink so the fan speed can be controlled by temperature

by cookSee the attached drawing of the chip I am trying to identify. I think the last character (the 'H') may actually be the manufacturer logo, but I am not sure.
This chip is part of a hand held device that detects metal. Its called a pinpointer, and is used in the metal detecting community. The chip is located on the main power rail which is from a 9 volt battery, noted in the drawing.
I tried many searches to find the part, but did not see anything that looked close. But then I have very little experience doing this and I could have easily missed something obviou...Today, 07:27 AM -
by chaos-theoryI have a card that does post at all, the owner said it does go into windows but it gets stuck on the logo with artifacts, I have no idea if he is lying or not... I tried the card on my pc and it does not post at, no beeps, no bios nothing just all fans turning and nothing else. I tried plugging DVI or hdmi but nothing, I tried unplugging the 8 pin plug from the power supply and it's the same thing.
I just want it to post and get into the bios at least.
Forgive me if I am wrong, but I tested the 3 PCIe 12v power pins on the left(550ohm) and the 4th one from the right 3.3v (400ohm),...04-18-2024, 02:42 AM -
by claws77my laptop has a weird power-on issue.
Once the laptop has been powered on, it can restart/ wake just fine on battery power or Adapter, ONLY If i have not closed the LCD.
If i am running on battery and have closed the LCD (even momentarily). it will not power-on/ wake-up on battery power no matter the battery percentage.
but once i open the LCD and connect it to the adapter (even momentarily) it will wake up gain and I wont experience any issues till i close the LCD.
i do not know where to look for repair.
thank you all for any advice.04-30-2024, 04:36 PM

by benwatersonHi All
Been a while since I have been here, and a bit rusty.
I have the above laptop motherboard that was working and now the charging circuit is faulty.
Have 19v in fine until it hits PU4403 - not shorts I can see and thermal cam reveals nothing.
I have swapped out the ISL9538 and also the two mosfets (PU4403 and PU4405). Have 2.8v at the power switch, which pulls low when pressed - charging light comes on and goes straight off
Below are measurements (pin names are per the datasheet for the ISL95338 (couldn't find one for ISL9538,...05-03-2024, 03:25 AM -

by smaniakThe laptop won't start. When plug power supply, on 19V in gives me 0,14A, without turning on the laptop.
I check it with thermal camera, and there is one resistor that is very hot, I change the resistor with new on but the result is the same.
In the attachment there is schematic of the resistor area, and schematic of the laptop.
I can't understand, why this resistor is getting so hot....Today, 01:24 AM -
