by aaronkatriniHi all,
I was looking to upgrade my main multimeter (Asita MD591) with something that has more features. I'll use it mostly for board diagnostic and diy repairs. I've been eyeing out many of those multi-function ones from Aliexpress but can't seem to make my mind up. Here are the features that I'm looking after:
- Autorange
- DC volts up to 30V
- Accurate Resistance
- Diode test (Beep mode)
- Frequency up to 200MHz
- Capacitanze up to 5000uF
- as cheap as possible
Other functions are not needed but those which are needed...Today, 09:54 AM -
MSI MEG Godlike x570 motherboard - need schematic and boardview. I have accidentally plugged in the wrong usb plug into a usb3.0 connector on front panel of PC resulting in temporarily shorting out the port. (I know it was really stupid, It was dark in my room and was rushing). I shutdown the computer and now after an immediate restart I get an overcurrent error on boot up saying my PC will shut down in 15 seconds. If I let the computer sit for about 35 minutes, I then can boot the PC without getting error. What I am hoping to find out is what parts were affected by my stupidity. by grimacelordHello,
I have an HP 14-dq0055dx laptop here that came in for boot looping. It was previously taken to another shop and they tried flashing a BIOS firmware to the chip, so I cannot take an original dump. For a second or two, a message will come up on the screen that says:
This loop will go on for as long as you like. I let it run for about 12 hours and came in the following morning and it's still looping.

by smaniakThe laptop won't start. When plug power supply, on 19V in gives me 0,14A, without turning on the laptop.
I check it with thermal camera, and there is one resistor that is very hot, I change the resistor with new on but the result is the same.
In the attachment there is schematic of the resistor area, and schematic of the laptop.
I can't understand, why this resistor is getting so hot....Yesterday, 01:24 AM -
by jkrunsHello everyone,
This is my first post after browsing this wonderful treasure trove of knowledge for many, many evenings. I've decided to learn how to fix these things, properly.
My patient is an A2338 Macbook Pro M1 (late 2020).
It had some corrosion around JT710 and JT700 caused by liquid spill, as well as against the protective barrier around the USB-C chips UF000 and UF100. So I took the main board out and cleaned it with a toothbrush and alcohol, then with alcohol in an ultrasonic cleaner. Cleaned the touchbar flex connectors as well. The board looks...04-22-2024, 06:45 AM -
by unimatrix93Dear forum,
I'm stuck with this old TV unit.
PSU: 17PW04-1
MB: 17MB62-1
Symptoms:
- Blue LED constantly blinking when connected to AC.
- Only sigh of life is beeping when touching the capactive buttons on the front.
Diagnostics so far:
Checked the PSU output voltages:
12V present
5V present altought its only around 4.2V
3V is present measured 3.4V.
I check TP 202 which is for the short circuit protection: 0.606V on diode mode
Since I met with some vestel models before with similiar symptoms...05-03-2024, 03:18 AM -

by FZGHello!
I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.
Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.
I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?
Also, what mechanism is this?
Any feedback is appreciated!...Today, 07:16 AM

by benwatersonHi All
Been a while since I have been here, and a bit rusty.
I have the above laptop motherboard that was working and now the charging circuit is faulty.
Have 19v in fine until it hits PU4403 - not shorts I can see and thermal cam reveals nothing.
I have swapped out the ISL9538 and also the two mosfets (PU4403 and PU4405). Have 2.8v at the power switch, which pulls low when pressed - charging light comes on and goes straight off
Below are measurements (pin names are per the datasheet for the ISL95338 (couldn't find one for ISL9538,...05-03-2024, 03:25 AM -

by cookSee the attached drawing of the chip I am trying to identify. I think the last character (the 'H') may actually be the manufacturer logo, but I am not sure.
This chip is part of a hand held device that detects metal. Its called a pinpointer, and is used in the metal detecting community. The chip is located on the main power rail which is from a 9 volt battery, noted in the drawing.
I tried many searches to find the part, but did not see anything that looked close. But then I have very little experience doing this and I could have easily missed something obviou...Yesterday, 07:27 AM
