        Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and looking forward to learning something new.
I got a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen9 (with intel CPU) on which the USBC ports were broken, these are now repaired, I have reinstalled the notebook with Win11 and actually everything works, but it has a bios supervisor password.

is there any way to read out the password, or install a new bios? or any other methods?

as I said, I am an absolute beginner and need to get an overview first

        Greetings to all

yes, you can program it. these devices have a mec1633 chip. try the shorting technique or program via jtag or kbc. greetings

i tried the shorting technique on a p53s and now it boots to a blank screen.

how do i recover from this? also i probably shorted the wrong chip, i was poking around on the j9301

i'm reading right now but rather frustrated with many many other things that y'all have the space to have dumped on you here.

Hello, I have a question. Since this method works by shorting LPC, does it also work with AMD models? I have a L14 gen 1 ryzen model, that I got the schematics for and it shows that it also uses LPC bus for EC communication. From what i understand, the only EC that don't work are the ones using eSPI.

Connect your motherboard to an external screen or with the original LCD, being careful.
Uses a USB keyboard to make things easier and avoid communication problems with the KBC(Ec)
                          Prepare a ground wire.
                          When everything is ready.

You must put a wire on the ground and make a light contact (1 -2 seconds should be enough).
If too long, errors occur : Fan error, Bad data, Thermal sensor etc ... and power off

Wait the Logo or just after the backlight.
Short contact with pin 128 or 1, wait and release
and press F1 to enter setup

After clearing security with blank password
                          and clear security chip.
Simply restart with Ctrl Alt Del
                          And test now

                          Warning:
Do not short before full startup (backlight), nor during shutdown.
Follow this carefully, otherwise there is a risk of bricking or corrupted data.
