2+ hours of testing and no success.
The closest i get is a "user" bios interface with only Main, Config and Time tab enabled.
I get some EAIA data access error and Machine UUID is invalid but still after this asks for password again.
I even installed the same BIOS like Max's laptop on T480s video.
I give up.

Over 1 hour of testing on T480s and i get Thermal Sensing Error.
Got other errors like EAIA data access error and Machine UUID is invalid but this the most common.
Machine power off when this occurs.
Keep trying.

Try holding Esc during boot to bypass power off due to errors

No luck, still the same, closest i can go is a limited BIOS with Main, Config and Date/time tabs only.
Esc is not preventing the shut down due to Thermal Sensing Error

I bricked it, loaded defaults on limited BIOS and now is just singing a melody, no post.
No problem, it will become a great donor for the rest T480s, locked motherboard was useless anyway.
If you need any testing with t480s, T490s and E14 Gen2 let me know, i have many.

for me, t480s and t490 worked with pin 6.
I don't bother with T14 gen1.

i tried all pins with the above results.
perhaps has something to do with the enabled fingerprint on my BIOS, i don't see other difference.

Hello everyone.

Don't save with F10, just clean Pwd with enter twice.
If the serial, uuid etc. information is corrupted, you are saving the wrong information

The method is delicate, there is always a risk of bricking or try failed.
ITE and Nuvoton is easy
Mec16 is more delicate (many try necessary).
Timing is important

you're almost there, the safety tabs are missing, you have to keep trying. maybe stay less long

difficult to explain
just before the panel lighting, before the logo.
It takes many tries to get the timing right.
if too long or too late, fan errors and other errors appear.
The ideal is when you have access without errors so that the numbers are not corrupted.
you have to check if information is not corrupted in the first tab.
that's why I do a ctrl alt del after deletion like that the information is not saved, just password removal

Why don't you just unlock them all with Autopatcher and 10EUR USB Programmer (CH341a + SOIC8 clip)? No soldering, no nothing. Just need another device and python installed.

I was referring to those 3 boxes of T480s. Not the other devices he has.
When I was following Maxpower's instructions for the first time with MEC1663 device it took me like 30 min, the next one was probably 5 min or so. So yes, bypass method would be faster, but if he absolutely can't move anywhere, I don't see a reason for not using Autopatcher on 8th gen Kaby Lake R. Instead of just killing boards one by one like he reported. Do you?
