Studio Electronics ATC-1 disturbing signal around 8Khz
by hbns
Hi,

I have this synthesizer Studio electronics ATC-1 form 1996. It works well but there is some disturbing kind of sine (i guess) sound at around 8 Khz. For now I filter it out with an eq and can perfectly use the synthesizer. But I wonder what this could be. Any idea on what to verify (I only have a multimeter) or what to look at or possibly replace to understand where this disturbing sound is coming from an how to maybe fix it? The photos added are the synth inside and two print screens (synth switch on and synth switched off) of a software spectrum analyzer showing the two loudest...

MSI GS66 Stealth 10UH-091
by thriftyson
I recently purchased a used MSI GS66 with password locked bios.

If I'm understanding correctly, I can fix this by re-flashing the bios. Except I need a copy of the original bios because the updates don't have complete information.

Maybe I need to download my existing image and copy information (something something DMI) from there to the newest BIOS update downloaded from MSI?

Or maybe I'm supposed to request for the original, if any has it unlocked can they send it to me?

I'm tried following different threads here, but its confusing because MSI...

Modify BIOS to non-uefi
by hexdy
Hello, I wanted to know if it is possible to modify a BIOS file to accept a legacy disk when it does not have the capability, I had this problem on a Optiplex 3060 that were donated to my job where we use non-uefi linux distros, we cannot use uefi since is a "big machine" with this systems beign the center of all of it, we can't change the distro now, maybe make some changes, but if I can modify the BIOS it would be awesome.

Acer predator XB241YU Component identification
by Shulgin
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Acer predator XB241YU screen. When I plug it in, the startup LED turns on instantly, and I can't turn off the screen without unplugging it.
After disassembly and inspection of the electronic cards I found what looks like a broken inductor, it is marked with the letter A and is at location L58.
In the first photo you can see the broken component, in the second photo you can see where it is on the board, in the third photo you can see the silkscreen and in the fourth photo you can see the identification sticker of the main board

Centronics ZAT502HD ATSC Set Top Box
by mechguy
I watch some basic TV using an ATSC tuner set top box which outputs HDMI to my LCD TV. The brand is Centronics, which seems like a fairly low cost (ie cheaply made) product. The UI is a bit crude looking compared to what I've seen on TVs that have the ATSC tuner built in (but it works!). Anyway, the set top box has always had an odd behaviour, which is that turning the device on using the remote would sometimes not "stick", that is, it would turn on momentarily and then immediately turn off. It didn't do this all the time, but it did this randomly since I've had it, which is 2009. Recently...

Problem with Samsung Tv UE49MU6120KXZT (Version 01)
by RGSound
Good morning I have a problem with my Samsung UE49MU6120KXZT (Version 01) TV with Motherboard BN94-12644A.

After disconnection from 220V the TV remains switched off with status led off. I need information on how to proceed with reprogramming the flash memory and the BIN file to reprogram it.

I have purchased this programmer on Ebay: CH341A EEPROM PROGRAMMER FLASH BIOS 24 25 SERIES + CLIP TEST. I include photos of the motherboard. I am not very experienced but I would like to learn so the more detailed the information, the better it will be for me...

Battery not charging in ASUS G532LWS Motherboard -> BQ24780S
by cope
Hi everyone,

I have been working on a no power issue with my personal ASUS gaming laptop. It went dead a few months ago.

Some history:

Since then, I've found a blown mosfet on the GPU line which I replaced. It started up without a battery, then when I added the battery back it wouldn't start up again.

As a result, there were some blown components around the BQ chip. (The BQ chip itself - BQ24780S, the low side battery mosfet (shorted), and a resistor -> all replaced)

Now, with a new battery the system will start up and run off...

Hi, I have a power supply that now is working but generating a lot of heat (200ÂșC) in the resistors circled by green (see photos) with a minimal load (60W). Output voltage is correct with that minimal load. What cai I look now?
