Sharp Aquos LC-40UG7252E LCD TV burn in?
by jonah1024
Hello!

I'm a few days old into this TV screens repair universe so please bear with me.

Recently, and all of a sudden my 40” 4K Sharp Aquos LCD TV turned on with colors all smudged in some places on the screen that remain like that even without any kind of video source. I do have image but the colors are smudged/tinted/ washed out in patches as per defects. This to me looks similar to burn in but I’m shore this is not an OLED.

- I did the classic unplug and hold power button to discharge the caps but it didn't help.
- I did a factory reset as well...

A2442 - No sound over internal speakers and no video playback
by soeren
I am facing a strange issue, I don't have any sound over my internal MacBook speakers and also the video won't start. If I change to my head speaker or via HDMI (speaker on my external Display) the sound works over the head speaker or Display and also the video starts (ex. youtube).

All happened after the battery ran out of power overall several days when I was on vacation.

I tried to remove the battery and then reconnected the battery, and then the MacBook Pro 14 2021 won't accept any power from my power socket. Then I removed one speaker, connected again the battery...

PS5 - long screw damage, via to ground layer short?
by Prott
Hello dear Badcappers,
I came across a PS5 that was longscrewed. The screw went through the HDMI IC (which I replaced + repaired the traces it damaged), however the screw also bend the board and slightly cracked it on the other side. It still seems like it could be fixable though as the area might not have lots of traces going through it (fingers crossed).

Can somebody, please, measure their board and tell me if my assumption of an inner short between the via and ground layer is correct? These 3 pads have almost no resistance. I would like to make sure those are not some...

Sony Bravia KD-50X690E blown resistor
by x_orange90_x
I just picked up this tv yesterday and the previous owner said while watching tv he heard a loud a pop and then the screen went dark. I removed the back cover and found the source rather quickly; resistor R8601. A chunk of the ceramic had blown off exposing the inner wire. Due to the damage I cannot make out the colors of a couple bands. I likewise cannot find a datasheet for the power supply. I tried pulling up pictures of the same board online but the resistors have different colored bands which I half expected as I've had this happen before.

The power supply is 715G8413-P01-001-0H2S...

by anikin73
I am attempting to repair this. Circuit is quite simple, but i a quite stuck at it for a long time. so today i try to ask for new ideas. my challenge is to under stand what mistake i made. I had repaired not lesson than 50 pcs of various brands ATX psu . main pwm chip is Cm 6805 Sip 9 .
5VSB is fine. When I short Pson, totally nothing happen. I check , the Cm 6805 VCC pin2 did have 16v, But totally nothing happen. I changed to a good chip from another good PSU. Same thing.
What other pin should I check such that it will result in no start up at all ?

Vizio E701i-A3 Vizio logo flashing then turns off
by Super360
Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

Asus laptop just stuck at random time
by Dreigas
Hi everyone,

I've got a problem with my Asus TUF Gaming FX506LX laptop. I bought it as a non-working unit it had been completely drenched in a sweet alcoholic drink and was left for a year... When I got it, the motherboard wasn't in terrible shape, but I had to clean a lot of areas—about 1/5 of the motherboard. There was some corrosion, but I managed to clean it up and re-soldered where I saw issues under a microscope.

One of the two primary MOSFETs was fried (PQ33 fried and PQ34 were fine), so while I was waiting for a replacement, I desoldered it and created a short....

APC Smart UPS SUA1500 does not detect AC / doesn't turn on
by CapLeaker
Sooo... I have an interesting victim today. Our special on the menu is a APC Smart UPS SUA1500. Looks like it's got Alzheimer or isn't smart anymore (dead, dumb as f@ck), but at the same time it isn't.
Battery is about a year old and they are good at a resting voltage of 26.5VDC. If I press the on button for 3 seconds it does turn the inverter on and I get 120VAC no problem at the back and the battery shows full. So it isn't the battery. It also charges the battery no problem when plugged in add that as a twist!
However if I plug it in with the battery attached it won't...
