As the topic says, I have a L480 which suffered a couple of shorted caps after the USB-C (not the one located in the JDOCK). This caused the PD switch to explode and get shorted too. I cleaned the area around the shorted and exploded caps and then removed the shorted and exploded IC as well.

After that I shorted the J13 (by-passing the exploded IC) in order to check if the Laptop boots and the battery charges.

I noticed that the USB-C charger (not the original but a 65W PD compatible charger for smartphones...

I have a ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 motherboard (NM-D451) that needs an EC replacement. The repair and soldering will be done by a service shop., i'm just helping source the EC chip because the exact one isn't available locally.

The original EC on the board is IT5679VG-1M 2227-BXO. I tried finding the same EC on AliExpress and sent a seller a photo of the original chip. They said they had it but couldn't provide a photo at first. I placed the order and asked them to program the EC.

I have a ThinkPad X13 Gen 1 Ryzen 5 with a BIOS-locked motherboard (it works fine except I can't change the settings). Hello, I bought X1 carbon 6th from Ebay somehow the laptop is bios locked and I don't know the password and heard that you can short the chip to get through the bios password. Where is the EEPROM chip located, some may say it's underneath the motherboard or above.

I successfully booted into the Golden Key U1 Tool (v3.5.78), and it launches ThinkPad Maintenance Utilities v1.20(x64) — but my version appears to be missing the full Set System Identification menu (it only shows Add/Read/Delete S/N options).

I have a laptop that was purchased second-hand, and I am able to boot Windows on and extract the BIOS dump (ONLY the BIOS region, I was unable to dump anything else due to an FCERR I received trying to dump the other regions) and use normally. However, because the BIOS is locked with a supervisor password, I am unable to use anything else except for Windows, and it has also disabled some hardware features of the laptop itself, such as the fingerprinting module, etc. that I really do wish to use.

A recent BIOS update from Lenovo has bricked the laptop.
Currently there is no charging light.
According to Lenovo's website, the BIOS version R26ET41W/EC R26HT28W (r26uj08w) has been withdrawn due to issues with the system failing to power on after the BIOS/EC update.

Following this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/co...g_and_flashing) i re-flashed my t480s BIOS using an external (CH341A) programmer. The flash didnt work, so i reverted back to my BIOS backup successfully. The BIOS in the chip and the BIOS backup file are identical according to windows' file compare. The revert, however, didnt work: the only thing the computer does is flash the power button 3 times when AC power is connected. I've tried unplugging the CMOS battery, holding the reset button and holding down the power button- no signs of life....

Hello, it seems to me that my thinkpad P50's BIOS is corrupted. I tried to boot it up and the power button would only blink 3 times green. The serial number is missing from the bottom of the chassis so I'm not sure what to do. I hope it's not the motherboard that's broken......

I've got ThinkPad T450 with the following symptoms:

After pressing power button:

• The power button lights up and stays lit for ~20 seconds
• Fan spins up immediately and spins for ~7 seconds
• Keyboard Lock buttons flash and then go dark
• Display goes from transparent to black within 3 seconds of pressing the power button and then goes to transparent again after the power LED turns off (panel shows no image, backlight is off)
• With VGA monitor I get no output either

• Removing RAM from socket - this gives me 1-3-3-1 beep code as it should

Good day. I apologize if I posted this in the wrong topic. I saw somebody selling a Thinkpad E495 with a Ryzen 3500U CPU near me. In the pictures the laptop is running windows 10. I contacted the seller and asked a few questions about upgradability and if it has a bios password on it. He confirmed it has a bios password.
