First sorry, i did not read well the OCB is tested good, what you did not noticed is that there is a standby 13v that is surely present if you have standby led and is called A13v, what i see is that the OCB contains no real power supply or it generates only A13v, otherwise it is not really clear, in the internal psb they are generated B13v rails and the one that feeds the leds booster, i do not see the path of A13v because of a lot shines on the board, maybe A and B 13v are different rails, A comes from the internal main board, or from OCB, on the main psb primary there are two power mosfets,...Last edited by Davi.p; Today, 01:58 PM.

The specified model is the "version model" so it is unique to that board and panel, later i can post the code..
it's a VE228 version VE228HR

Hi, VT is a varistor.or the like, and it measures ok, don't mind it, you need, as always when missing psb output or others doubts, test the psb inside the OCB with dummy loads, first ensure that detaching it from the rest turns it fully on like the common Samsung scheme, then test for the 13v and 350v, with and without a load on the 13v, i guess 350v is the DC from the graetz bridge and feeds a back light led power supply board (psb) on the tv main body, there must be there a PFC boost so 350v turns to 400v, PFC stage can be K.O. and so the psb shuts to standby.. post very bright photos of main...

Asus VE228HR firmware
Requesting main firmware, VGA edid eprom dump, thanks....

the test coil captures a portion of oscillating current from the board coils, maybe the used led has an integrated resistor, it's a short way to test if the converter is ON or OFF, without searching the test points, the rest is a common issue of bad cap, when a coil is OFF other ones are too, size of coil does not much matter , the important is the limiting resistor for the led, you can use visually a similar coil of the video, try different ones..

Search in secondary side for a TL431 or equivalent in sot23 and replace it, 5,5v is too low, before it check the main stage ic primary side with its datasheet, if vcc is as usual around 16v then is so..

Please, if you use a smart phone to make photos, i suggest you to install a separate app to make trimmed photos for email / web exchange with a maximum of around 2k x 2k px, like i suggest in my sticky post, in Android i.use "Camera flash" from expertisenetcoms that has also a particular "light booster" (more bright on low light), good for boards, besides this i need a larger area pictured of the board so i can understand the purpose of those caps, i suggest you to replace them all the oxydated ones, generally you get them on spare cracked lcd boards (i store a lot of them)...Last edited by Davi.p; 04-13-2025, 12:36 AM.

For what importance it has now i remember years ago i bought a big tv from LG, the defect was the same and it was installed right under an air conditioner, that the owner said it dripped sone condenser water on the tv, after many tests on the panel boards, i found the target, wiith a magnifier lens i found a single burnt trace on a cof tab, the one with the correspondence to the issue on all its working area.. and that's it..

The cof has not to burn, it is not short circuited, the corrosion has not to be visible, the traces has higher resistance and stop.. the fault is within panel, stop.. do not hope otherwise..

Hi, by the first post i trend for a bad bga on main.board, but after the test of the panel, if nothing happens and no WBRGB test shows, i don't know, not the 100% of the panels supports this type of test, the more noise is probably a light loaded psb due to panel off, tcon half on, so not clear.. but if when it shuts off it doesn't blinks a 5 code error then 100% bad bga on MBLast edited by Davi.p; 04-09-2025, 10:30 PM.

what you use to remove the insulating glue? primary side of the two transformers tested? CM801s , CM802s, DM807 Tested? what voltage on cathode of DM807?

So the tcon are maybe both ok, what you don't consider is that you probably got an incompatible board, indeed surely, i trust the seller, the corrosion is hidden where the cof tabs glues on to the panel pcb, the reason why after certain minutes tcon goes in protect mode is because corrosion means higher resistance, with heat the resistance got higher, very simple, you are throwing other money.. i said previoisly, touch the cofs, it some are very hot and hotter than others you found the damaged one..

very difficult to see through the glue, for me you have to check all these components under here:...

Nicktronic you first said you tested QP802.. how did you tested? if it were shorted as usual D to S it couldn't not having broke also that shunt resistor under it..

Sorry, posted in a hurry, well, firstt i forgot is a Sony, so first we need to know how the psb (power supply board) outputs the voltages, i see the photo now, needed a double jumper TCon-ON - Power-On - 5VSB, in this way you enable Tcon12v-out on the respective connector, on the back you could solder a single wire (at least 0,5mmq thick , sorry i now metric system only) that goes to the fuse near the supply connector on the tcon, the fuse is usually white with gold plated terminals, if you would do a better job , best is to get spare wires from old bench PC with 1pin connector, or buy a bunch...

i seen lotas dump is not 100% matching yours but is very similar, i'm gone a little deep in rsa/aes decryption and i found the info file attached to the sam. website firmware is providing only the private key but not the encrypted password, so i cannot decode the file, the pw is maybe within the tv previous firmware..
