Re: LG 32LX1D will not turn on
He should get new meter first, but can try using 600V scale on the battery first to see what it will show on the meter.Never stop learning

Re: LG 32LX1D will not turn on
Perhaps if he connected the connector as vince keeps asking it would all be a bit clearer if we get some numbers we recognise.
At a guess the 081 is 8.1v if it always displays 3 digits.Last edited by selldoor; 12-21-2013, 04:48 AM.Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: LG 32LX1D will not turn on
Hi Folks - maybe Crrose got a new tv instead of a dimm?
I am watching this thread with interest as I have the same model LG that recently decided to not turn on. On inspection, I see no blown capacitors but there was quite a bit of dust accumulated especially around the fan. ONE QUESTION, at the beginning of this post the person said no red light at all. My tv displayed a (fainter than normal) blinking red light - no pattern just on/off. Is this the same failure mode? I also want to add I had just started using the HDMI port for a Roku box 2 days prior and the night before it failed I had unplugged it (it was already off) as I sometimes do when leaving for several days. I'm wondering if this could have caused the 5v standby cap an issue? I do remember hearing a little voltage crackle when unplugged. The main fuse seems fine via a continuity test. At any rate I'm going to take a chance on swapping out the 5v standby capacitor since I have the soldering iron and maybe reflowing the other caps. I'm not going to take this in to a repair shop so either I get lucky or the credit card company makes even more interest.... I'd like to try some more tests but I'm a bit scared since this is not my forte - my Dad would have prefered I be barefoot and preg than blessed with technical curiosity but hey, what you gonna do? I really liked this tv it worked great and had a great pic and color and don't like adding to landfill so any suggestions or idea from you kind technical wizards would be greatly appreciated!

Re: LG 32LX1D will not turn on
As long as you have some common sense about what you are doing (i.e. don't stick your fingers everywhere on the power supply while the TV is opened and plugged in the wall), you should be fine. Most decently-built electronics (i.e. not no-name garage-built brands) are also safe against catching fire, so you're covered there as well. Just wear some goggles or safety glasses should you need to perform any voltage measurements when the TV is plugged in the wall. Exploding silicon parts can be cruel to the naked eye sometimes.Last edited by momaka; 12-30-2013, 05:54 PM.Comment

Re: LG 32LX1D will not turn on
If you have a multimter, check voltage at ST5.0V. Should be 5 volts.
Otherwise if you don't have a multimter and would rather not troubleshoot if you don't have to, then just replace those start-up caps mentioned on page 1 and 2 of this thread and roll the dice. Chances are, this will revive your set based on the symptoms you described.Comment

by pajdekHello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

by tony359Hi all,
I am working on a sound processor, it tends to overheat so I fitted a fan inside. The fan is connected to the +15V of the PSU via a DC-DC converter based on the LM2596 to reduce the voltage to around 10.5V.
Unfortunately the analogue circuitry is picking up the noise from the fan in two ways:
1. The fan is close to the analogue section, the motor itself gets into the outputs so I'll have to move it somewhere else
2. Even with the fan running outside of the case, there is still some noise which is clearly going back to the processor via power line....2 Photos -

Let me tell you a little bit about what happened to my laptop (MSI GF63 THIN 11UCX model: MS-16R6) that “maybe” you know how to solve this problem.
So before this problem happened, my laptop was running smoothly. When I wanted to restart my laptop, it looked fine at first. But after I waited for this restart process to take a long time, until finally I panicked (because the restart process did not finish plus the laptop screen only showed a black screen), I immediately pressed and held the power button to force the laptop to turn off. But... -
by MegaZACSurprisingly enough, this receiver doesn't have the DSP chip issue. The HDMI board does not get hot, and sound over HDMI works fine.
Regardless of the input, the right channel has noise that is clearly noticeable even on average volume level. The only cases when there's no noise is when VCR input is selected (some tracks on the board are damaged, maybe that's why), or if HDMI input is selected but nothing plugged into it. In all other cases, even when no input is connected I still have the noise.
There's some logic behind it. As soon as I select an input I get only left...-

by robante15Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 4520 from a couple of decades ago and I want to repair it solely for nostalgia.
It happens that when I turn it on after having been disconnected for a long time, it turns on without problems, it tells me that the BIOS has been reset and that it will load the factory settings, if I tell it to continue, the computer turns on and everything works fine.
The moment I turn it off and want to turn it back on a second time, or restart it and try to start it again, it no longer gives an image, and it no longer responds.
If I remove the... - Loading...
