I got two of these TVs LG 32LX1D and both of them have the same problem. The buttons do not work. I can not even turn it off. Does anyone have experience with this problem?

One of the power boards is bad so I have been swapping it, I tried the startup cap but that did not fix it, I will tackle that later.

So I found a remote and I was surprised, the indicator light on the front blinks when I press the remote but nothing happens. I am guessing these are LG 32LX1D from the part numbers on the boards but both TVs have no back covers so I am guessing.

I just picked up a 32LX1D. This tv did not have a power cord with it. I took a power cord from my vizeo 10A 125V and plugged it in, the tv did not power up and there are no lights illuminated on the front. I checked all the stby voltages and all the readings are not consistant but I am not sure if I should have my meter set to AC or DC. Either way I don't get 5v. First of all is this power cord the right one, if it is, I would would be very grateful of someone could walk me through diagnosing this problem.

You have to set the meter to DCV first and report the STBY power supply reading to see if it shows steady 0VDC or fluctuating DCV.
Bad cap can look normal but may have high ESR or have leakage current.
We also need the pictures of YOUR boards.

Thank you budm for replying, I read this entire thread and I hoped that you would be able to help me out. I had to leave town for a week so when I get back home next week I'll take pictures and retest everything in vdc. I am a very good DIY auto mechanic and I have done a quite a bit with appliances and home computers. Attempting to diagnose these complicated electronics is a new realm for me. I have a Crafstman digital multimeter with an automatic voltage setting. I assume that I use a pin labeled grnd when Im testing these voltages. Do I unplug all of the pins from the power board or do I leave them plugged in.

When you work in the secondary side (COLD side, isolated from Primary (HOT side)) you can use GND pins or the chassis (secondary GND is tied to the chassis) for GND ref. of you meter.
When making measurement in the HOT side of the circuit, you will use negative leg of the main filter cap as the GND ref. for your meter.

Measuring the large brown cap marked 450v I measured between the two pins protruding from the bottom of the board with my meter set to VDC and the result was a steady 162v. I then measured between multiple GRD pins as well as the chasis and the two pins labeled ST5.0V with my meter on the same setting and the result was fluctuating between .2 -.4v. Have I measured these correctly and does this tell you anything.

162VDC is correct when TV is not turned on yet.
So the ST5V is unstable, I would suspect the startup-running cap c126.

Awesome, so the capacitors can still be bad even if they appear to be in good shape? Should I test these caps or anything else before I order them. I also need to order a power cord since I have been using the power cord from my vizio. Is there another online vendor that you recommend? I have found a capacitor kit online at LCD Alternatives and a power cord from a place on eBay.

Bad cap can look normal but can have high ESR or loss its capacitance. You need cap meter that can at least do capacitance and the ESR.
Try heating the board with hair dryer to see if the ST5V becomes stable, it can also be that the main board is drawing too much current and causing the power supply problem. You can run the power supply board by itself without having other boards connected to it to see if the ST5V is stable.

budm is the man. My free tv is running now after spending $17.00 and getting advice from budm. I replaced the C126 cap and the TV started up. Thank you very much, I learned a lot.

I'm new here to BadCaps and this is my first reply/post. I was looking for repair info for 2 32LX1D TVs that I have and this post helped me bigtime. I got both repaired within 30 mins. Thanks guys. I will be visiting this site oten as i am getting into the TV repair business.
