I switched to the backup TV, a Sears brand Sanyo made in 1976 that I got from my parents. It's needed 2 capacitors (vertical yoke and audio coupling -- I misdiagnosed the latter by going to the doctor for a hearing check), a couple of pieces of brass to cover holes worn in some tuner contacts, and the wire wraps on the flyback needed soldering(intermittent sudden changes in brightness).
