There is a vent right under the board, but the customer says it was never exposed to any moisture on the floor. I'll get some alcohol pads and clean it, also likely will use some 60/40 solder+flux on some of these concerning joints... -

ohhhh, where that screw is right? I think this is a single layer board, could that really cause this?...Leave a comment:

I can't see the crack, here is a close up of the board burning but I see no component under the board that would be causing it to get hot from the bottom, only the top.
Yeah I messed up my previous (deleted post). I assumed it was synched to my nas from the DCIM folder, but my magnifying glass app has a separate folder which was never snyched to my nas (it is now)
I have a lack of diagnostic equipment. I'm tempted to go for this https://usavshop.com/products/Replac...fer-p639819992 (edit 2: oh shit that's...Last edited by Uranium-235; 12-23-2025, 01:07 AM.Leave a comment:

It has a single rectifier. Single Nichicon VT. Though I'm wondering if R10 didn't get too hot, of if it's just that color...

This isn't intermittent. No RCA connected, this is on spdif. Also, the hum stays at the same level no matter how high the volume is, so I don't think it would be the power supply side of things. I've seen that happen before and when it does the hum usually increases with volume, here it's not....Leave a comment:

Bose 321 Gs Series II DVD hum
My customer hasn't had this hooked up in a very long time. He wanted to get his LG tv on it (on toslink) and I get a 60hz hum no matter what input, no matter what volume, the hum remains the same volume (though does turn off on mute)
I took the subwoofer home and it has really only one cap (also a very small one), a large nichicon on the power board. Think it could be the main unit? All RCA analog connectors are disconnected. -
Question about Edgerouter X for guest wifi firewall rules
I'm not new to networking, but I never dealt with firewalls and vlans (aside from default SPI firewalls)
So I have a company that has a wifi 6 pro unifi AP and even though I set it up months ago with AP isolation, I realize now that doesn't mean anything for local resources from the private network. Oops.
So, I've been doing some reading and I ran into some videos some with seemingly an older firewall interface, and some with a newer one that has the established/related checkboxes. But it might have been another unifi device. There is no separate unifi switch here. It's... -
Well I switched them. Made sure to get AS5 across the CCDs and a larger glob up above. Borderlands 3 caps the temp around ~81c....Leave a comment:

Yeah the CM has one quiet fan in the middle, but the entire heatsink is connected (vs two seperate fin arrays). I can always increase the fan curve.
I would love to use an AIO but I have these two, and I don't want to spend any $$$....Leave a comment:

Scythe Fuma 3 or Cooler Master MA620M
1Scythe Fuma 3100.00%1Cooler Master MA620M0%0I have a 5900x to replace my 5800x (actually a fair bit of performance difference). It came with the CM. I can't actually find any article of a direct comparison between the two. The Fuma has a Higher TDP but the CM looks to have a more solid build. Fresh AS5 either way. -
Older, hotter ran laptops breaking tabs related? (XPS 15 P31F)
o, customer gave me this, keyboard had issues with keys and cleaning them did not seem to fix them, so replaced keyboard
On reassembly, MHF4 connectors on wifi antenna were warped, bent up wifi card connectors (didn't see until did a high magnification on them)
Ordered new a antenna, wifi card. Went to replace it and all the tabs where the screen cable/antenna holder broke when I was trying ti take it apart (non marring pry tool)
I noticed the keyboard had a copper sheet. Further looking into this, it's because how hot this thing ran (nvidia gpu and... -

Which GS do you have? I heard the 6200 series are problematic but the 6300 are actually very good...Leave a comment:

Voip options for new setup
So, I have an auto shop company that is paying $250/mo for a old analog telephony pbx connected with a spectrum voip phone system and 5 phones, that are from 2015, and two have died thus far
In 2010 I ran trixbox at a (very small) pc repair company I worked for and it's not updated anymore. I so I have...a little exp with asterisk based voip
Should I mess with asterisk on linux, or get a hosted voip like 3CX?
They don't do much advanced stuff, but even with hosted 3CX it can run ~300/yr, which is significant savings and I don't have to be the support person... -
Re: DIY PCIe x1 video card...
That is what I thought. Come to think about it, since it was a server, that slot was likely supposed to be a raid card. Dell might have made the PCI-E bus not to support the full 75w...Leave a comment:
