It's too old for Windows 10, agreed. You can do it just as an experiment but it will hurt for daily use. That processor will only run 32-bit software FWIW. Pentium 4 was a mistake in the first place, I know, I had two as a teenager. The 3GHz Socket 478 Prescott system was the last system my father built for me, the first C2D desktop, I put together myself.
I've had good success with Solus Linux, the versions using KDE or XFCE desktop. KDE is the most similar to Windows 10. By default it gets a floating Taskbar ala Mac, but you can easily stick it to the bottom like Windows does and...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Sharp CD-Q5 micro component system. Curbside find from last night.
Tape only works one way (it's a digitally controlled auto reverse deck, likely some mechanical issues), screen backlight is dead.
Everything else works fine. All the controls, the CD player, the tuner all work. Amp good on both channels, no issue with the two speakers and it sounds quite good for its size. It's also got an aux input so I can plug the TV, PC or phone into it....

Re: Asus UX490U laptop blown (caps?) on power board.
Yes and no. It is true that schematics for ASUS devices have been scarce in the past few years, they prefer publishing "repair guides" which are nearly useless, but most boards still have boardview files available which you can view with a piece of free software.
I see you are new to laptop repair so let me tell you what those are: Boardview means physical representation of the motherboard along with what part is connected to what other part and with all the names for voltage and signal...

Re: Hp 22-DD0302IN aio strange issues
Bootblock likely looking for a recovery image on the SSD. I would try flashing a dump from another machine rather than the update file from the website, it could be incomplete.

Re: dead transformer on ceramic oven
It's always Celsius, there are no parts rated in Fahrenheit degrees, it's a convention respected all over the world.

Re: Acer Nitro 5 Dead
Check for 3.3v on battery connector first, with adapter plugged in. That way we can get an idea where to start measuring.

Re: Cooling upgrade on refrigerator. If it works, it ain't stupid!
Thanks, saves me some time. Weather has been getting significantly cooler today, and so far, so good. 3 degrees C on the topmost shelf.
Someone else suggested another thing to check, there should be a valve between the freezer and fridge compartments which may be getting stuck closed. That's on my to-do list along with replacing the PTC....

Re: Cooling upgrade on refrigerator. If it works, it ain't stupid!
Thank you. There is a small black box to the left of the compressor, where the power cable goes in and from there the cables split going to the compressor and the control inside the fridge.
I'm going to take it apart and see what's inside....

Re: Cooling upgrade on refrigerator. If it works, it ain't stupid!
Commercial and outdoor units have a fan bolted on the side of the compressor.
This one is way past its warranty, and there was another problem which probably led to the current situation: the white tray on top of the compressor collects the condensed water from the fridge compartment, which the heat rising from the compressor evaporates. That tray had fallen off and the water had been dripping behind the fridge for a long time.
Now, it's a small amount of water so it wasn't...

Re: dead transformer on ceramic oven
105/70C is the temperature the thermal fuse inside the transformer burns at. I doubt the PCB reaches anywhere near 70C as there must be some capacitors on it as well. I would say go ahead with the transformer with 70C fuse If all other parmeters match.

His location says Greece so it's most likely 230V.

Re: Honeywell Accenta G3 tamper alarm
Yes, that means the backup battery in the main unit is dead. I had the same problem a few years ago. What I found is that duct tape over the siren will quiet it down enough for it to not irritate the neighbors while you replace the battery in the main system....
