Continuity is one click from the last V~ setting, the one that has the audio symbol and diode symbol. Sorry on mobile so can't highlight it. This is for seeing if any outputs are shorted Freak's test is more general

Beep is bad that's a short
There should be no beeps, you may briefly get one but it shouldn't be continuous

One thing you can do as well is run the probe along the connection quickly which should let you find shorts in not much time. Test your meter first by touching the probes together and you should hear a beep

Forgot to ask, where does the black probe and red probe go in the highlight square you showed me?

Black probe on the gold pad
Red probe on each of the vias/micro drills.
You may be able to run the probe fairly quickly along the vias as I said above.. This depends on your meter being fast enough (most are)

You're basically trying to test between the big gold pad and the outputs of the buffer/scan board

I get it for the red probe but for the black, where is the 'gold pad'? Sorry for my noviceness!!!

Yes use GNDH for the grounding point. This would be a sure test to know if in fact those scan ICs are shorted or not. Its a time consuming process but a thorough one.

This is my video on this technique. I believe I'm actually the originator of this check - but been a while...

If your meter responds quickly to continuity it takes almost no time at all.

If found 4 vias/micro drills that beeped in the lower board. See picture with red dots.

I tried doing the same test to the upper board but I wasn't getting a reading. i.e. no numbers would show up. Just the L. I am not sure what I was doing wrong.

Unfortunately, there's your problem with the tv...

This board is unreplacable. How many hours would you say you have on this set?

Well I bought back in 2005 or 2006 and has been the main TV in the house.

Maybe there is a board I buy on Ebay or something.

Since this board is fused to the panel, it cannot be replaced. The IC can but it requires a certain skill to do so. Hot air and a fine point soldering station. Flux as well. I have done it quite a few times, unfortunately I cannot just have you send me the board for repair..

Thats always the question.. These IC's are like tires. When one goes, it's usually a sign that the others may be on their way as well. But Given Pioneers reputation, like Tom said, they use a better way of driving the ICs so they are not "maxed out" all the time so. It's a gamble.

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Assuming...

I have a floodlight-security camera that recently died on me.

its hardwired to 115v po115v outlet. One evening it simply died. After some troubleshooting (ensuring it had power and ensuring the electronics were actually functional by supplying 5v via usb port) i realized the power supply must be the issue. The supply was noticably warm to the touch even though it was not powering anything.

Trying to understand what i was up against i went looking for others with similar issues and anyone who might have attempted a repair. While a few ppl have had the...

I have a vintage 2008 Samsung 50” Plasma TV, Model code PN50A550S1FXZA with a power supply part number BN44-00222A. I repaired the power supply board several years ago finding a couple of cold solder joints on the back side of the board and it's worked great up until now. Recently a fried sound occurred with the smell of burnt electronics and the TV shut down. Trying to turn it back on yielded the typical relay clicking with no TV boot up. Upon investigation, removing feeds to the other boards within the TV it was found that disconnecting the logic board from the power supply allowed the...
