I don't see a male connection on the TV that would fit an rs232....that looks like the picture below.
Also, is it plausible that the solder job is causing this?
Is there any checks I can do with the volt meter? What about replacing the Y main board and X main board?...

All connections are firm from what I can tell. I agree the solder job was below average and no silicone film was applied afterwards. I can take it back but before I do I need to be sure it's not something else. Any diagnostics I can do to get a picture? Or is the poor solder job causing this?
I feel like we are close! Even the guys at the store all hovered around the plasma saying ... ohhhh they don't make em like this anymore. The panel will last for ever...they don't leak. Anyways, I am not giving up yet damn it.

I guess its better news. He charged me $100.
So here is what the picture looks like. Now there is a black line across the screen and the green dots flicker randomly in different areas, some red, some white. I couldn't get a better picture. Most of the screen is dark.
I checked all connections and I put the guard back on that protects the panel ribbons....Leave a comment:

Hi Tom and Shawn - I got the chip installed. See picture. The TV turns on and I get sound but no picture. The light is now green. The picture is mostly black but with white dots flickering faintly. I also hear a buzz when come in and out when the picture changes but I think this buzz is normal. It always make a small sounding buzz.
There was metal guard that covered the upper and lower IC scan boards that also clamped pressure on the panel to the ribbons (see picture). I have not put that guard back on yet....not sure if...Leave a comment:

If found 4 vias/micro drills that beeped in the lower board. See picture with red dots.
I tried doing the same test to the upper board but I wasn't getting a reading. i.e. no numbers would show up. Just the L. I am not sure what I was doing wrong....Leave a comment:
