OK, the other possibility is a failed MLCC (ceramic capacitor.) There is a small brown capacitor across the +12V and GND, right near the connector. Remove this and check if the short persists. It is only for EMI so not crucial for operation. Replacement should be with a 1uF 16V or 25V, 0603 device.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Well - not a lot to check? Make sure the solder joints are not touching at the connector
12v and gnd are pretty close. Then chack those little smd components that go from 12vtrace to gnd trace.

And across the transformer tap it shows a short?
I fail to see the problem here -- this is quite normal. A transformer winding is a piece of wire inductively wound around a core. Ideally, it has zero resistance.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

I can´t mesure ohms between the transformer pins and ground. It alters very fast and i´m only using a multimeter.Comment

Can you unsolder the long link - will shorten the problem zone.
Did you test the resistors crossing the line? and is there a cap or something

Can I see the label on the white connector with a bunch Voltage labels next to it, I cannot read them on the picture.
I expect the 5V stanby to be working sinc the 12v is switched on by the main board.
Philips model number and chassis number? I also see MLCC right across the 12v output close to those two bleeder resistors.Never stop learning

They seem to be fine. They would have much more ohms and not shorting out when failing.

I suspected this one, too. It looks odd because i lifted two pins for testing. From this view, the top left one and the lower one. Problem still remains....

I've been encountering some perplexing issues with my ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1660 Ti Gaming OC and am seeking insights or potential solutions from the community.
Symptoms:
Initially experienced a gradient-style black screen from the top.
Poor performance: ~10 FPS on the lock screen.
Encountered artifacts followed by black screens.
After addressing a PSU-related problem, still observed a performance drop (~10 FPS).
Upon using GPU-Z:
Memory size shows as 0MB.
Unknown bus width and bandwidth reported.... -
Hi all,
I have a CRT (Acorn AKF12, based on the 240V version of the Philips CM8500) which has stopped working. It's making a high pitched noise but not too high. I know this is symptom of a faulty flyback.
What happens when a flyback fails? I see that the main voltages out of the PSU are not reaching rated values, as if there is a short.
There are supposed to be 125V/26.5V/15.5V outputs but I am reading something like 48V, 10V and 8V. If I unplug the PSU from the rest of the PCB, I can measure the expected values.
Can it be a short somewhere... -
Board had no history of liquid; unsure of drop history, but no signs of damage of any kind worth noting.
Charger sitting at 5v/0a. PPBUS is at 1.9v-0.9v steady cycle (peaks, drains, loops). Confirmed CHGR_EN_MVR is missing, but DCIN was reaching ISL just fine, so replaced ISL--no change at all. Confirmed pp3v8_aon is also missing--and being unsure *exactly* which signal appears first (or if they are simultaneous), I inspected PMU/U8100 area and found no shorts, but also found PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN missing (not shorted). Replaced U8100 just in case (have had them fail in weird ways),... -
Hi everyone,
I recently acquired this card from a seller who was selling a PowerMac G5 for parts. He mentioned that the video card was probably broken too.
Upon closer inspection, I can tell the reason why it won't work: it's missing a bunch of CAPS! (it's also missing an inductor - 1.0uH).
It's a nice card as it's one of the few AGP cards that will support 2560 x 1600 resolution on a PowerMac G5 using a 30" Cinema Display.
Looking at the card, it appears to be missing the following:
1x 1.0uH inductor - orange square
2x... -
Got this card out of a box of old electronics and am hoping there's a way to fix it, when i found it i put it in one of my desktops and it displays a kinda static like bars of color. so upon further inspection i noticed that it is missing a choke and a capacitor, and the other choke is cracked and there's a piece of it missing. im pretty good with smd soldering and i looked around quite a bit but cant seem to find what the part numbers of the missing components are. if anybody could help me out with this that would be great. the part number of the card is P/N 102A4900103 15931211-14-2025, 04:48 PM
