Hello everyone,
I've been encountering some perplexing issues with my ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1660 Ti Gaming OC and am seeking insights or potential solutions from the community.
Symptoms:
Initially experienced a gradient-style black screen from the top.
Poor performance: ~10 FPS on the lock screen.
Encountered artifacts followed by black screens.
After addressing a PSU-related problem, still observed a performance drop (~10 FPS).
Upon using GPU-Z:
Memory size shows as 0MB.
Unknown bus width and bandwidth reported.
In the Device Manager, the GPU had shown Error Code 31.
After driver reinstall, artifacts were observed, resulting in a complete loss of HDMI/DP output. However, after some attempts, I managed to get Windows running without artifacts or the Error 31.
In MSI Afterburner, indicators for clock speed, voltage, memory speed, and temperatures are missing.
Potential Causes:
Based on some research and initial troubleshooting, a few possible culprits have been identified:
VRAM ICs malfunction: This could be the reason GPU-Z displays a memory size of 0MB.
Faulty Voltage Regulator Modules (VRMs): Might be causing unstable power delivery.
Power Management IC (PMIC) issues: Could be affecting the reporting and behavior of the GPU.
GPU Core abnormalities: Sensors or circuits within the GPU core might be malfunctioning.
BIOS Chip issues: Could be leading to incorrect readings or behaviors.
Attempts So Far:
Used DDU in Safe Mode to completely uninstall and reinstall the latest drivers.
Tested the GPU on another system and observed similar issues.
Before delving into more complex diagnostics or considering a replacement, I'm hoping to gather thoughts, similar experiences, or suggestions from the community. Has anyone encountered such a scenario? Could a faulty IC or another component be the root cause? Any advice on further testing or repair would be appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
