      don't give up... try to cutting the black plastic covered the panel puffer boards slowly with cutter.( its mounted with infrared heat) ... you could find the issue on ceramic cups 90%

          Re: Sony XR-77A80J OLED 5 Blink

          I have tried many things, I even found a broken screen a80j and swapped all parts from it. To confirm also evdd would send 21.4v on this one, when doing test. So I ordered new tcon, found a random full set replacement with broken screen and results always the same. The screen shows same exact pattern. I also found a small damage spot on the side of chassis that may have crunched the screen in some way. It was enough to put a small dent in the chassis so I'd assume it could of damaged it.

          As much as I'd love to save it, I think we are confirmed goner.

          Diah, I could cut into the metal strips and such but I have alot of others to fix at the moment. I'm going to put it to the side for now, and if I decide to do such ill look back.

          Davi, I don't see much point in the test now, since I found all those replacement parts. Literally everything is the same no matter what I switch etc and I can see on the broken OLED screen that there was a jumbled picture.

            " also found a small damage spot on"

            that is the answer, better to check better next time before buying it and parts..

              Yes I'm sure, it was pretty small. The screen shows no damage just on the chassis. Something that was hard to see I guess.

              I only spent $25 on tcon board, I'm not at a loss. This is how I learn, now I know for next time

                      On the sides there are glass printed data traces that feeds the rows, that dent appears to be quiet severe.. cracked glass for me..

                            I get blue red white green
                            I have the same TV with the 5 blinking red lights. Just wondering how you are able to get the colors on your screen. I have everything disconnected as stated but nothing comes up with LVDS and power lines to the motherboard disconnected.

                              You need to read the thread thoroughly. You have to jumper voltages to the correct spots, just disconnecting stuff ain't going to do anything

                                  Diah thanks for that. I'll start reading. Also I have purchase V160 8Th Generation LCD Screen Tester Set 4K-Vbyone & 2K-LVDS For Screen Test. Can I use this to test on this Sony TV?

                                  My reading were incorrect from EazyBone here is what I have below.

                                  1.TCON_12_ON = 0V (never changes when I hit power)
                                  2. BL_ERR = 0V
                                  3. EVDD_ON = 3.38V
                                  4. AC_OFF_DET = 0V
                                  5. POWER_ON = 0
                                  6. STBY = 0V
                                  7. GND = OV
                                  14-20. REG 12V = 12.8V

                                  PSU to TCON.
                                  1-3 0v
                                  4-6 0v
                                  7-18 0v
                                  19-30 0v

                                      Thank you for your response Diah . The only difference I saw was in the pins below located at CN6401:

                                      1.TCON_12_ON = 3.38v for half a second then down to 0v
                                      3. EVDD_ON = 0v then when I hit power button goes to 3.38v then to 0v once red light is present.

                                      Here are the picture below where I started at pin 1 on both PSU to MB then PSU to TCON. I noticed that R712 does not have continuity, is it supposed to have continuity? R712 also flashes 12v on one side for half a second.

                                        sounds like r712 maybe open circut maybe lift one side from board and re check

                                          vinceroger69 I removed one leg and still no continuity. I'll look to see a replacement. Is there something else I should check before replacing?
