Well why in the world would you have it open all the time on the BIOS password? That's what operating systems are for, password protection. But anyhow, did you test your keyboard, i.e. plug in a known USB keyboard and try your password this way?

You may be right, but I prefer such a defense-in-depth. The other night, a thief cut a hole through my window while I was sleeping, trying to steal my phones from my bedside using a long stick. But I woke up before any damage could be done.

I initially thought as much, but didn't think that was the issue. The same password that didn't work happened to work again. I have not restarted my laptop again since then, as I always put it in sleep mode. I don't know if the problem will continue to persist or not.

                  HP EliteBook 840 G5 (Board ID 83B2) — need clean dump for 25Q128JVPQ (EC/SureStart)

I need a clean dump for the second SPI chip (EC / SureStart) on an HP EliteBook 840 G5.

                  Laptop details:
                  - Model: HP EliteBook 840 G5
                  - Board ID: 83B2
                  - System BIOS: Q78 (version 01.09.01)
                  - Main flash: W25Q256JVEQ (32 MB) — I already have a clean working dump with my serial numbers.
                  - Secondary flash: 25Q128JVPQ (16 MB, EC) — my dump is attached below.

Symptoms: The laptop works only with the main 32 MB chip replaced, but I suspect the EC/SureStart flash (25Q128JVPQ) is corrupted.
Since HP SureStart uses this chip, I need a proper clean dump to reprogram it.
Could someone please share a clean working EC dump for this exact board (ID 83B2)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

                  Добрый день!

Ищу чистый дамп для второй SPI-флешки (EC / SureStart) ноутбука HP EliteBook 840 G5.

                  Данные по ноутбуку:
                  - Модель: HP EliteBook 840 G5
                  - Board ID: 83B2
                  - System BIOS: Q78 (версия 01.09.01)

(Board ID 83B2).
                  Заранее спасибо!

Need Help With CH341A Programmer & BIOS Password Removal (HP Elitebook 835 G11)
                            by KingCracked123
                            Hey everyone,

I recently bought a CH341A programmer, but I’m still not 100% sure what to do next. I couldn’t find any tutorials specifically for the HP Elitebook 835 G11, so I’m trying to piece things together.

From what I’ve learned so far, the process looks something like this:
                            1. Use the programmer to read the chip.
                            2. Save a backup of the dump.
                            3. Open the .bin file in Hex Workshop.
                            4. Replace certain lines with “FF”.
                            5. Write the modified file back to the chip.
                            6. Boot the laptop → password should be gone.

I’ve also heard that some systems have both a Main chip and...

                            by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                            Hello,

I'm using TONGFANG "GM7TG7P" model laptop for over 3 years and i'm entering the same bios administrator password everyday. My laptop has Aptio BIOS (American Megatrends, AMI).

But today it's not accepting my password. I'm %100 sure i'm entering the correct password.

I'm trying to reset my bios without success.

                            I tried :

-I removed the BIOS battery and main battery. Waited for a long time but it didn't work. They already stated in the user manual that the password will not be reset even if the batteries...

Hello everyone, I come here to tell you my problem regarding the power-on password. It is not a bios reset demand, and i can't have any access to windows. This is the bios and power-on password that is blocking all other things.

My Omen 15-dh0052nf purchased second-hand was configured with the bios password upon purchase (very simple password :P ).

Having decided to sell it in order to get something more powerful, I reset all BIOS settings and set a blank administrator password. But the power-on password cannot be changed to a blank one so I let the actual password set....
