    Well why in the world would you have it open all the time on the BIOS password? That's what operating systems are for, password protection. But anyhow, did you test your keyboard, i.e. plug in a known USB keyboard and try your password this way?

      You may be right, but I prefer such a defense-in-depth. The other night, a thief cut a hole through my window while I was sleeping, trying to steal my phones from my bedside using a long stick. But I woke up before any damage could be done.

      I initially thought as much, but didn't think that was the issue. The same password that didn't work happened to work again. I have not restarted my laptop again since then, as I always put it in sleep mode. I don't know if the problem will continue to persist or not.
