Thank you! Could I also desolder the chip and solder wires directly to its pins?

Hello, I am attaching two BIOS dumps from two HP EliteBook 840 G5 laptops - I was unable to reset the BIOS password using these tools:
                https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...os-unlock-tool
                https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...349-rcunlocker
                https://gist.github.com/schorschii/7...7b65ff22c27337

RC unlocker fails, while the two others generate a file, but upon flashing it, the laptops are still locked.

@hoaca388 knows what he`s doing, there should be nothing wrong. Program both files again, and verify what is written to the chips. Check around them and make sure you havn`t dislodged any resistors

                            Hello everyone,

Please I need help resetting my HP EliteBook 840 G5 BIOS administrator and post power-on passwords. All I did was restart my laptop and the same password that I always enter during boot suddenly don't work again. It's strange and I'm confused.

I think you are confusing the Windows password with the Bios password, they are not the same. Look for a solution to recover or remove your Windows password, but check that you don't have caps on or that your keyboard maybe sending the wrong letters. Try plugging in a USB keyboard and try it with that.

I have no idea how you came to this conclusion. I didn't even say I was running a Windows OS. I'm using Linux Mint.

I have seen the video, and it doesn't seem like something I may be able to do for now. Don't have access to the right tools. However, the post-power-on BIOS password that didn't work before has worked again. Though I'm not sure if it's going to work again after another reboot. In the BIOS, I was able to change the administrator password but not the post-power-on password, as it was telling me "incorrect password" when I knew it was the right password.

                                        by TopPop
Sorry for the long story. I have a Dell Latitude 5530 (i7) laptop (South Peak 15 MLK MB DDR4 203102-1 FK8VG$JA) with an admin BIOS password that I want to remove. Service Tag: HYKFPT3. Other than that the laptop worked OK.

I found a CH341A Black and went looking for the BIOS chip on the motherboard. After trying to read one chip that was a firmware chip but not the BIOS I think I found the BIOS chip labeled Winbond 25Q256JVEN. Altogether I think I found 4 different firmware chips in the laptop. The BIOS chip is a WSON8 6x8. I used the CH341A, NeoProgrammer, and a cheap pogo pin clip...

                                        Hi everyone,

I’m a student currently locked out of the BIOS on my HP EliteBook 830 G6. I bought the laptop second-hand, and the previous owner didn't provide the password. I really need access to the BIOS to change storage settings and boot orders for my studies.

                                        System Details:
                                        • Model: HP EliteBook 830 G6
                                        • Processor: Intel Core i5 (8th Gen)
                                        • Serial Number: 5CG0080LKD
                                        • Halt Code (from 3rd fail): qeh11u1kst

I'm hoping someone here can help me generate an SMC.bin file or provide a master password that works for this generation. Any guidance on how to get back...

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                        Hello Hello,

I have been browsing the site and gotten so much useful info from here, including extremely helpful boardviews and several other very useful types of information. I am very grateful to this community, as I have actually eeked out a living from buying salvage PC's & Macbooks and repairing them. So, thank you all in advance!

I have searched and found some useful information regarding my issue, but my case is a bit different than the info I'm finding. But if anyone here can give me any useful advice, it would be highly appreciated.
