Hello,
I need some help in fixing this corrupt bios on a Toshiba Satellite Pro A50-A. Laptop starts, lights flash, fan starts spinning for about 15-20 seconds, then stops. And starts over again. When I turn it off, it turns itself on all by itself.
Serial number is (E175457H)
Attached original bios dump.
Many thanks,
Raymond...

Toshiba Satellite Radius 14 Bios extraction help
Hello,
I am trying to extract the Bios for this machine (I bought this on Craiglists and it is a Toshiba Satellite Radius 14 with no serial number and the Bios chip is blank!). Attached is the file and I followed the instructions SMDflea suggested, but when I run this, it doesn't create a .com file it creates a .rom file?
Please help and thank you!...

For some odd reason, every time I turn it off, it doesn't want to turn back on? I have to unplug the CMOS battery and the main battery to get it to start up again. Any thoughts?
Tks!...

Just thought I would update so that anyone in this same situation can benefit from it. It turns out that coincidental with the password removal, my keyboard died of a lonely death. Changed the keyboard and everything is back to normal!...

Need a bit of help here, although I was able to remove the password and recover my Lenovo Carbon Gen 4 with the procedure in the first post, for some odd reason my laptop keyboard is no longer functional, only the Windows key works, all other keys are DOA?? Any ideas? If I plug an external keyboard everything works fine, so does the screen keyboard, but the laptop keyboard is dead. Did I forget something when recopying my original Bios ? Please help and many thanks!

Well well, I found what the issue was after going over the whole board and I thought I'd share it with others so that if anyone has this same issue, they'll have the solution. The solution was the power adapter not pumping out sufficient amps, so it would "starve" the motherboard from current, and the mosfets would try and compensate and heat up. When I found the issue, used another power adpater and bang, everything back to normal. Will now troubleshoot the power adapter. Cheers!

Wait, before you clean it do post nice clear and crisp photos (sorry to say, but your photos are blurry) so that we can help you identify the areas to fix. From the blurry photos you posted, I spotted a few spots that look suspicious. see attached. Only after having identified all areas both sides that might have been affected will you have any hope of getting this thing back to life. After having identified all areas (which we can help you with with some decent photos) then do what Mon2 suggests.1 Photo

Checked all the caps that seem to be on the +VDDCR_VGFX and +VDDCR_CPU rails, and didn't find any suspect. None of them seem to be shorting and I examined them with a microscope and didn't see any suspects. As for the circled mosfet on my previous post, I was mistaking because it is right under the 2 original mostfets that heat up, so this one is fine..it is the 2 on the top of the motherboard that get blazing hot.

Hi Sephir0th,
Can't seemto find PU8101, maybe I don't have the right schematics? Also, I am attaching a photo of the back of the MB and the circled mosfet M3054 also heats up as much as the front ones. When I turn of the motherboard, the resistance between gate and source is 2.1 ohms?
I replaced that mosfet, but get the same result.
As for heat, I have a thermal camera that I use with a macro attachment, gives me perfect readings.
Sort of lost now that I can't find PU8101??...1 Photo

To simply say "CPU is good" is not sufficient and possibly not the correct assumption in addition.
There must be a reason why the the buck converter is getting hot. And if it doesn't have something to do with the buck converter then it originates from the load (APU).
A Inductor almost never fails end even if so, it is easy to confirm. More or less the same applies to ceramic capacitors. It is a absolute rare case that they will fail without a straight internal short of the layers. However, it doesn't sound...
