don't save anything, follow Maxpower3 steps:
Don't save with F10, just clean Pwd with Enter twice. and reset security chip. Then restart with ctrl+alt+del

This message appears when you press F10, it's not necessary!

      MEC16 33/53/63.
The timing is a bit annoying; you have to start shunt earlier.
Each EC has a different timing.

Thank you very much, volinakis and Maxpower3. I don't know, I must have had brain fog and wasn't following the Maxpower3 steps. Everything works now — thank you so much

One more problem with this Lenovo model: pressing Enter twice or entering a new password doesn't confirm that the password has been saved. After restarting the laptop, the password is still not removed.

what I can tell you for sure is that I didn't have problems in clearing passwords following Maxpower3 steps. And I used this method tens of times.

It saves when I press Enter—if I reset the CMOS jumper on the motherboard with the battery disconnected, before connecting the power adapter.

                                  Hi!
                                  So, strange issue here...
I got myself a very nice T490... But BIOS is (was?) locked... I THINK I have been able to delete the password: now I can enter BIOS with NO password... Anyway some parameters still greyed out: Secure boot and -for istance- reset to OS default are greyed out. All password are DISABLED... I CAN edit boot order...

i.e. SECURE BOOT is now TURN ON and, being greyed out, I cannot turn it off. I tried to Restore Factory Keys, I tried to reset BIOS to factory settings but still cannot have SECURE BOOT turned OFF. It is actually on USER MODE (for Platform mode) and STANDARD MODE (for Secure boot mode), although I cannot change these parameters. Kernel DMA protection (in virtualization) is DISABLED. Also I tried to set up a BIOS password (both supervisor and system management) BUT Sexure Boot still active and greyed out... Grrrr....

                                  What is wrong here???

It bothers me to know that the people who perhaps you thought that contributed good things are the ones who contribute the least. and that when they do it they only transmit useless things.
Advice, do not download file coming from Maxpower3 of you will infect your computer.
