At this point I'd really like to verify the LVDS on a oscilloscope, if there is any possibility for you to get the hands on one...
BTW: did you already try do disconnect only one of the ribbon cables on the Tcon that go to the LCD screen, then vice versa... in order to see if there maybe half of the screen comes up?

I did that and there was no change. As for an oscilloscope, I don't have access to one.

For clarification, the LVDS is the cable that runs from the main board to the TCON, correct?

        Yes, that is the cable.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

          Awesome, thanks.

I know what an oscilloscope looks like but have never used one. For further reference, what would the oscilloscope tell me about the LVDS cable?

Please check the DCV (when TV is turned ON) at those test points I have marked: Black probe on the chassis.

This is done with the TV powered ON? You have 12V feeding the T-CON fuse F1 but the switching power supplies are dead. Based on those Voltage readings you have made the T-CON board is dead at this point.
BTW, I hope you did the test correctly.

I'm pretty sure I did the test correctly. I had to run my pos. probe over a file to 'sharpen" it a bit as I wasn't sure I was hitting those small areas correctly.

In any case, I've got a TCON on its way.

EDIT: Yes, the test was done with the TV on.

If you can provide feedback after fitting the replacement Tcon would be good.

TCON arrived, no change to the TV. Man...

This leaves the LVDS cable and the panel I guess.

So you still have 12VDC at the F1 fuse of the NEW T-CON but no DCV on any of those test points?

Do you flip up the tabs on the ribbon connectors to insert/remove the cables and then click them back down to lock the cables in place or are you pulling /pushing the flat cables into place???

Well, what did you think happened? When I put the new TCON in, I mustve not inserted the 2 strips in all the way into the panel, so I immediately posted the result here.

I went for broke and redid it all. Snow, glorious snow on the screen.

I intend to update the 1st post with the solution plus what I've learned from this.

Thank you all so much. I learned so much from this experience, mostly to take your time and use a magnifying glass.

EDIT: I guess I can't edit the first post. budm, dick_barton, diah, capleaker, and anyone else I missed, thank you so much for help me save the TV from the dump. I'm very proud of this!

Well done. Now to show us a picture on the screen.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Hello, i am working on Vizio M70-C3. It can hardly power on, it takes 15 power button presses or remote. Seems like eeprom problem that I seen before but all reading online says that this tv has power board or main board problem.

When tv powers on vizio V logo shows nice on whole screen. picture 1
When it goes into tv mode it only shows good picture on left side of screen, right is all scrabbled up. pic 2
When i start youtube picture shows on left side fine, right is all scrambled. pic 2

I picked this up and it had picture but no backlight. I was somewhat familiar with his TV as the LED driver fails a lot on this model. But when I tested the LED driver it had all the voltages necessary. I even had a spare one to try out just in case and that one did not solve the problem either.

I tested all the LEDs before pulling the screen apart but ended up pulling the screen apart anyways to further test them. Every one of them tests at 90 volts with the tester. They all light up. I replaced a couple as seen in the picture because I had extra and I accidentally popped the cap...

Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U - Replaced Backlight LEDs but now no image/display or garbled

I have a Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U. The TV was given to me as an attempt to fix or throw out. I replaced the Backlight LEDs and now the screen lights up, but there is no image/display. If I play with the up/down buttons I can get the display to change from black to garbled. I can't get sound from HDMI but not sure of what input is selected. I have no remote control. When I connect a laptop to the HDMI ports it recognizes a Panasonic TV for display and sound output but I can't see or hear anything through the TV. This makes me think the mainboard is OK, but not sure if mainboard can...

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?

I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                                            Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                                            First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...
