Those little oscillos are getting so economical to buy, thinking that anyone wanting to try fixing their tv should prolly have one. I can make room on the bench for one of those small ones.Last edited by nomoresonys; 09-17-2024, 07:33 PM.Comment

Hi CapLeaker, I had the main board tested by a repair shop and they stated it tested fine. Do you still think it could be the main board?Comment

nomoresonys, sorry I just saw the emails about what you want me to try again. I will test it the next chance I can and let you know the results.Comment

So since the TV has been sitting, before I was going to sign off, I decided to just turn it on. It went from powered off, to backlight screen with sound, to a cycling white red green blue screen and starts all over again. Hopefully video shows so you can see what I mean.

Remember simple first, make sure your flat cable ends are clean and not damaged and connected straight and secure, if nothing else try plug and unplug the connector on mainboard and powerboard a couple times to try to make sure the pins are getting good contact, same with cable from mainboard to tcon or panel.Comment

Can clean the flat cable contacts with isopropyl alc. some use pencil eraser, not too roughly, can go over the connectors where they hook up lightly with a toothbrush, remember its making sure things are clean and getting good connection, don't want to be too rough and break something but you do want to make sure things are clean and getting good contact, I've suspected poor connections all along on this one. Could also be a bad or intermittent cable as suggested previously.Last edited by nomoresonys; 09-18-2024, 03:28 AM.Comment

So if all that checks out can try some other stuff, one that works sometimes is hold power button on tv down while plugging in power cord keep holding til a display comes up, might take 3 or 4 minutes in some cases. Just be careful if display does come up, it might be the service menu so don't change anything, if display comes up let it come up fully then let go of button let it sit a minute, turn it off wait 5 minutes then restart as normal.Last edited by nomoresonys; 09-18-2024, 04:20 AM.Comment

Without seeing signals on the oscilloscope, how do you make sure that something is coming out of the main board first place? Other than that you just take out the parts canon and see what sticks. Not a proper diag. You gotta start somewhere and be sure the part works.Comment

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by ChrissygizmoHello again everyone,
This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…
I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried... -
by zukdjA new main board and power supply was installed on my TV last night, purchased the parts at ShopJimmy. I had no power before installing both parts. Now the TV powers on and I hear music as it cycles through a white-red-green-blue screen. I was thinking it may be a firmware mismatch with the parts however I am skeptical as to plugging in a USB stick with the newest firmware on it since I cannot do any user interaction since all I see is colors on the screen, will the firmware start and complete on its own once the USB is inserted or does it require user input? Someone told me it is in Purity Check...

by Adam RussWeird issue with this tv. Was streaming to the from a computer when it stopped working and the screen went black. Ever since then there has been. o image. Just a black screen. The audio works and yhe backlights do come on when it's powered on, it's just a black image. It presented like a backlight issue. So I finally got around to getting new backlights and a backlight tester. All of them test the same as the good backlights with the same voltages. There are no blinking lights. Just the white led at startup and when buttons on the remote are pressed signaling it's receiving from the remote....
