  • Had a little more time today so I messed with the tv a little more. I unplugged the right side ribbon cable to the panel and played around with blocking out some clock pins on the left ribbon cable. I got an image (not perfect but watchable) on that half. Plugging in the right side it goes back to black images. I unplugged the left side and have been working on blocking clock signals on the right side bu haven't been able to get a picture from that side yet

  • That is very helpful. It must be the panel then (unfortunately) because everything else has been swapped without no change. And 3 t-cons have been tried. > know it's not the main board. This is the third main board that has been in the tv now and nothing changed. Only thing I wasn't sure of is if the update was being applied but you're saying those folders being created means it worked correctly. if that's the case, then it's the panel itself....

  • I'm almost going to guarantee it's not the t-con. When it first happened, I swapped the t-con with another of the same model and it didn't help. Then I even bought a replacement, which is currently in the tv. I doubt the same issue would be present across 3 different t-cons. I'm guessing it's the panel...

  • Yeah, I mean if this doesn't do it I'm pretty sure it's the panel because everything else has been replaced with the same results. SD card didn't work. It did the same thing the other drives did where it makes a dozen other folders on the card (see photo). It's weird how it's so specific on. certain models, while I've used a 64gb thumbdrive to update my 83a90j without issue when I replaced the main board....

  • Yeah I send some messages to friends but no one seems to have any that small. Do you think a sd card is a usb reader would work to deliver the update? I do have one of those that small. But yeah I know I need to try it with the correct USB size to rule that out.

As far as errors, no. The green and amber were before this model. These would only blink red if there were any error codes. But it doesnt blink. And I can even play YouTube videos, just no picture. I guess I'll try the SD card route first since that will be quicker than waiting a few days for shipping on a 4gb f...

  • I can't find the 4gb thumbdrive so I'm at a standstill. The hard drive partitioned didn't work. the tv reads it but doesn't apply the update correctly because I end up with about 10 or so folders that you'd typically see on an android phone (Alarm, DCIM, Music, etc) but they are all empty folders....

  • Yes the red light optical is lit. Proper voltages around the eMMC too. only way to tell if that was bad would be to remove it. But seeing as multiple boards had the same symptoms, it's less likely to be the main board....

  • The screen has already been inspected for cracks when it was pulled off for test the backlight, if you're thinking that. Glass is all in tact....

  • Alright. It's a pretty typical Sony LED layout....

  • Alright did the jumper procedure as you instructed but no response. I known if I pull the BL on, PWR on, or STBY the power supply clicks on and clicks again if reconnected, but when it comes to the tcon on, there is no change whether the jumper is connected or not. or not. And it doesn't power on or show backlights when you try to turn the tv on with all 4 junpers connected....

  • Yeah I have a 4gb flash drive around here somewhere but can't figure out where I put it. I've had success in the past with larger ones. it know that they should be 4gb or less in fat32. What I did was take a hard drive in an external case, deleted all partitions, then created a new one that was only 3gbs. The rest of the disk drive isn't allocated to any partitions. I'm still hunting for that drive hoping it'll do the trick too. I'll jumper it later when I have time to get to it....

  • Just be be fair. I've confirmed the power supply is good already with proper voltages. Same readings and results with a backup known working power supply. This is a new (as in different) main board from the one it had when it went black. I have confirmed it is the correct model for the tv. This is also a replacement t con as that was the last board that hadn't been swapped. In the past I even swapped out the LDA board but no change. But seeing as this is a new power supply, new main, and new t con, and the firmware update has been put the root of a USB and put into the tv. I know it reads...

  • It is worth nothing that no image shows when you disconnect either side of the lvds cables, nor when both sides are disconnected....

  • Black screen on Sony 65x900h

I'm stuck on this tv. It has sound, and has backlight glow, but no picture. I've tried new power board, and new main board, but no change. Tried a new t con but still no change. I've updated the firmware after new parts with no change. Is it likely the panel is just dead of would it be lvds cables. I did take some shorter ones I had on hand and connected those between the main and t con just to see if I'd get a picture but no luck. I'm not sure what else there is to blame. Do screens just go out completely but remain with a backlight glow? The screen has been removed and used a backlight...

  • That test was on the other tv. That tv is working again. My last message was the forst tv where I found out the tv had the wrong main board in it. However when i swapped out the board and then did a firmware update to pair it, it still didn't show anything but a black screen. Then I tried to factory reset it and it didn't the turn of and turn on typical procedure. A few minutes layer it just completely turned off. The power board which was working fine up to that and had proper voltages is now dead. I'm curious if anyone has had experience where a main board has caused the power supply to...

  • Second update. Tried to see if a factory reset would change anything. I left it on for about 5 mins to do it's thing and it suddenly shut off. Now the power supply is dead. Have you guy seen a new main board cause a power supply to go bad before?

  • Just an update on that first tv that had the wrong main board. I got the new main board in and did the firmware update. Still a black screen. Not sure if it really worth investing much more time into it. Last thing would be buying a new t con even though when i swapped them in the past it didnt fix it. That could be due to the wrong board being installed though....

  • Well I got it working again. Took it all apart. tested the led with a backlight tester, all were good with proper voltage and brightness. Put it all back together. Upon first turning it on, just a black screen. Unplugged left side lvds cable, still a black screen. switched to the right unplugged and got the display color test. Hooked both up and all black. Did a factory reset and it started right up. I'm wondering if somehow one of the backlights was loose or making a bad connection triggering the 4 blinks. I has previously swapped every board with a working one from a good tv and no change...

  • They arent too bad. about 60 bucks on average. Hoping that'll resolve the issues. I'm halfway through checking these backlights on the 4 blink tv but so far the top half all checknout as working. can tell they made the zones smaller on this one (2 leds per zone instead of 3 on the H model). Im.hoping this one is easier to diagnose but I might need to double check it's boards are correct too. Thanks for the help before....
