Re: samsung 58 inch plasma
First we need model numbers and clear pictures of the boards inside.the tv.
Time to start checking voltages. you need a voltmeter and test voltages from the power supply outputs to the y and z main boards. There are some plug in connectors on the power supply that go to these y and z main boards that are located on each side of the tv. First unplug tv. Take back cover off.
There is quite a bit of dc voltage in these TVs so be careful with what you are doing. Once you are there you need to locate the output pins for VS and VA. Set your meter on DC voltage auto range. Black lead anywhere like a screw lug on the chassis and red lead VS then VA when powered up.
Let us know what you find.Last edited by freakaftr8; 01-24-2014, 10:05 AM.Did I leave the soldering iron on? -

Re: samsung 58 inch plasma
I would start by disconnecting power lines going to Y and Z sustain boards, with tv unplugged. Then power on and see if it still clicks on and off.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

by KYBOSHSaved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.
I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.
The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
Will start troubleshooting tonight.

by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered... -
by joel warrenTV was working fine and then just shutdown one day. It will not turn back on. I get a backlight for a little while, then it just clicks and won't fully boot.
I took off the back panel and did the basic troubleshooting and it seems like it's a panel issue.
The backlight will stay on if I disconnect either of the ribbon cables going to the panel. I've watched this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77tymvTJDxo) and am wondering if this could be the issue, just a bad cap on the panel.
Any assistance is appreciated.3 Photos -
by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by DodgethisHello all,
This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...5 Photos - Loading...
