T-con wouldn't cause this. You might have to take the panel apart to see the bulbs but you have to be so careful in doing that.

        Re: Samsung le46b530p7w

Could sell it on to someone more willing to fix it (probably involve stripping it down to the bulbs), I'd buy it off you if you weren't so far away from me. Worth a lot more in one piece than in five.

Closest I will be is Basingstoke in about 2 weeks. If you're in the area it could make an interesting project for me. Not sure it will fit on the coach back, though...

Uhh... it will probably reach me in 5 pieces if you do that. If you're serious about selling it, probably best to list it on local gumtree/ebay and be honest about diagnosis, likely panel bulb.

If you want to get rid of the TV I could send money for a decent courier (like DPD) where it would likely end up in one piece at the end, but it's a lot of hassle. I still reckon you could fix this yourself if you are determined.

                              Hi
Read this thread with interest as i had a similar problem.
The cause was C1804 open cct. .68UF 500V in the earthy end of T1801S. Replacement providing a cure. Thanks to TOM66 for the cct diagram of the psu.

I've got one of these in. I'm wondering if someone can explain what LD denotes please.
Someone has removed a diode and soldered in a bodge wire between the 12v and LD on the inverter. TV powers on but no backlight.

Looking at the following schematic it looks as though LD is an output signal from the inverter board

LD = Lamp Detect, if Lamps are all good and stay on after the firing Voltage is applied to the Lamps, the LD should be around 11~12Vdc range, if one or more lamps do not stay on then the LD will be <10V.
That long board where the lamps are connected to is called Balancer board.

Thank you. So that red wire was for tricking the TV into thinking the lamps are ok ? I think i'll check to see how the lamps look.

Same topology as in this Video, you can use the testing method to find out which lamp is bad.
