tom when the tv picture goes out i measure the voltage across PCI801's and the backlight comes straight back on

could it be the panel thats failing ?

The panel would not cause this. I suggest reconnecting JP852 and placing a solder blob between the secondary pins of PCI801 (do not do it on the primary side.)

Hard for me to tell, which side is primary and which is secondary? The blob goes on the side of JP852.

Looking closer, this set might be using JP854 instead of JP852.

The image you posted appears with PCI801S marking facing down. You need to place the blob across the pins closest to PCI801S.

If that doesn't work, it may be JP854 on your TV that is the UVLO sense. But I think this will work.

OK, remove solder jumper and cut JP854. (JP852 should be connected again.)

ok jp852 connected jp854 cut ive removed the blob of solder from PCI801S but the tv turned on then quickly the picture went off again

OK, when the TV is working, what do you measure across PCI801S? What does it do when it fails?
