    Re: Sharp Aquos LC-60LE810UN troubleshooting

ok every one i have fount the problem!!!!!!!!!!! you may have 1 or 2 bad smd's that may have went out but i have 2 of theses tvs bot had the one long one short. bought power/inverter board didnt work. replaced bad smds didnt work. so i went on ebey and bought a high led inverter tested lights in both sets work like a charm. mind you i only replaced one bad smd on only one of the sets as the other had no bad smds. so with the one that had all smds working i replaced power board and it still didnt work bypass the error by pressing vol - chan ^ and power button. nothing worked. so i hooked up the led strips to my inverter so i had picture went threw reset lamp error. turnd tv off hooked leds back to power board turnd tv back on and it threw the code again. now all the leds are fine in both sets lcd panel is good as well as i had picture when i bypassed. so im thinking that sharp made these inverters not to last long. needless to say i bought a brand new from sharp power/inverter board and guess what it works.........how long i dont know. but these boards that every one is buying from ebay little does any one know that the inverter on the board is bad..........i hope this helps with for any body else having the same problem......p.s as my other tv new board as well worked in it and i have a friend the has same tv too and was doing the same thing put board in his wahlah....... happy holidays............

it's starting to make me wonder if the bad LED strip is not only just Imparing the ability to power the strip but shorting the LED driver out on the power supply in turn

Good job! Are you using the strips with the smd diodes in place?

i havent changed any thing as of the way they are ran,so i assume so. to save money my friend said the heck with buying a new board so he went and bought a light rope and used the power cord and did a straight hard wire for the 2 top leds and the 2 bottom leds, but the ones on the side he ran in a series as it had less smds on them so they were getting way to hot. jerry rigged but saved him 250$ lol

The Vf of typical White LED is between 3.1~4V range, one diode Vf is about 0.6V, so to simulate Vf of White LED, you will need about 6 Diode in series.

              Re: Sharp Aquos LC-60LE810UN troubleshooting

I just jumpered 2 diodes on lower right strip, and one diode on right upper strip. All rest of LED's are on, forcing it to turn on will work, but if I unppluged AC cord it will flash long and short again, Now I think that lamp error should be reset, but I just turn lamp reset on and don't know how to reset.

If you want to test the leds strips just disconnect 2 connectors (+)led1-4, and (-)led 1-4 blue, gray, black and red cables, mark all the (+) with tape remove cables from connectors and use 400 vdc with 1k 1/2 watt resistor on each side of cables, each set of cables will turn half of the upper and half of side in groups of 4, 50 leds upper or lower, and 30 leds from sides so each transformer from power supply will turn around 80 led's ,probably with 320 to 400 VDC will turn those strips, I used 400VDC for no more than one minute, just to verify any dead led.

just got the boards in for this unit. This is the one I had sitting around for a year and a half with no boards from somebody else that part it out. Well sure enough it has the 11 code. Time to pull the panel and start checking LED's. Looks like I could just crossing the ones that are bad. You guys were not kidding this is a stubborn set compared to the other sharp LED TVs that I've repaired.

it definitely is a backlight problem because I tried the reset the Error comes bac. and it will not even attempt to light up at all

Found the offending LED. Last one I tested. Go figure. Upper left corner on the side strip. Looking either for a replacement or wondering if I can just bridge it like some other people said.

Would it be safe to.replace the bad smd LED with one from another junk tv I have from a funai 22 inch? Its different in design but I can make it fit. I mean all LEDs are similar in Vf voltage right?

                      Re: Sharp Aquos LC-60LE810UN troubleshooting

You want to match the Vf, brightness and current. A different LED might not work unfortunately.

OK. Can I can temporarily bridge it to see if the LEDs come up correct?

Worked like a charm. Might I add that it seems when an led tv develops a bad smd led it seems to me its always the first one on the strip in series where the power connection is.

                                Hey guys,
I've been reading threw this thread hoping I could find some nuggets. I've got a 60le830U that just coded 1-1. I'm a complete novice when it comes to this stuff. I'm not afraid to take things apart, but my hope was it would be a simple unplug some ribbons, buy a new board, plug it in, and put the housing back on. I called the local service shop and they are quoting me $110 just to look at it and could go all the way up to $500 for parts and labor.

When I did Vol down, Iput, Power button it would come out of error, the TV would turn on and then 5 seconds later it would shut down again go back to 1-1 error. I tried holding down the channel and vol button is various sequences during those 5 seconds, even while plugging in and nothing happened. In those five seconds the TV would show what input is connected in the top right corner and the screen seemed fine, but it was fast. I've taken the back panel off and right now it's just sitting in my living room. I don't have any experience testing electrical stuff, but am willing to learn. Anyone willing to walk me through some options?

I did see that it looks like I'm better off buying a power supply board directly from Sharp rather than off ebay because of bad inverters. I'm open to anything at this point. My dad is an electrician so he's got some gear and if I can tell him what to test he'd help me out.

Hi Micah. Welcome to the forum.

This series tv can be a challenge bit is repairable. The one I have had an led issue. The repair shop that I got it from was told it was unreparable of course. Nobody in the shops seems like they want to go as far as to remove the screen for some in depth testing.

You may have a bad led or it may be a power supply. When the tv backlighting comes on its only for a split second. If so the inverters are in fact working then. Does it seem bright? No darkened areas? I know its hard to tell but if just one led goes bad the whole system is shutdown.

                                  I'm sure.well get it.figured out

Pretty hard to tell because it's so fast. The right side seemed normal. Couldn't quite see the left side. Reading through the forums I know it's possible to test the LEDs but also sounds like a lot of them. What do you think my best step should be?

Also, really appreciate you guys. Nice to know I've got people to walk along side me with this!

I've now got a fluke multimeter in my possession. This is what I'm staring at right now. what should my next step be? I tried to do a little research and i think my particular set 60LE830U is a full array, is that right? I couldn't find any tutorial on how to actually get to the LEDs

ok new development. plugged it in with the back panel open and tried the vol down, input, power a couple times. first time didn't seem like the screen light up much, second time looks like the whole screen lit up. Third time (a charm!...and not really), for the first time the tv actually came on, I saw snow, and it looked like it when into K mode only until I heard a "pop-sizzle" and a bit of smoke. Awesome. Interestingly enough the error code remained 1-1. I'm guessing now I definitely need a new PS board? In the pic I posted below, I sniffed it out and it looks like that left little yellow thing (transistor?) the bottom right prong/wire has residue on it and looks like it burnt out. What do you guys think I should do? What would cause this?

                                          Re: Sharp Aquos LC-60LE810UN troubleshooting

Hi Micahg, I'm a novice but since it's a slow night I'll give it a shot.
That yellow thing looks like an inverter coil it's job is part of the system that provides power to the LEDs. The damage you see is the result of an 'overload' too much current going through too small a wire!
As I understand from this forum the LEDs are wired in series like old school Christmas lights one dies they all go down. But because of this relatively high voltage is required( wiki kirchoffs law& ohms law)

Good engineering and design tries anticipate contingencies especially where safety is concerned, so system have protection circuits to indentify faults and protect the system. You overrode that system.
I'm really don't want to sound preachy it's a good idea to start your own thread that is specific to your problem and do as much self study as you can.

That said do you still have indicator lights or blinking codes?
