I have found on when upgrading the firmware on some of the Toshiba TV's that I have to format the usb drives not using the quick format option. I found that if I used the quick option when formatting the usb flash drive it would not accept the firmware (this was when using a Windows 10 OS). Worth a try?

Try another option (sometimes it helps), turn on the TV, as soon as the diodes flash, wait 20-30 seconds. and after that insert the usb flash into the TV, the update should go.

Hello i come back to this TV after a long time. I think the problem is that a have an italy(EIA) version of a batv board that i bought from italy and according the manual they use different firmware from EUA and i cant find anywhere the firmware(EIA) for italy, does anyone have it?

I ran into the same issue. I want to take KDL-32EX720 mainboard (works fine in original TV) into the KDL-40EX726. G and Y Leds blinks, but USB fw update not starting, only 1 sec communication visible on status led. I use an old 4GB Kingstone pendrive, which worked well in any TV so far. Tried EUA and AAA sw., original .bin and upgrage_loader.pkg, etc.

Try this: after the LEDs start blinking, wait 30 - 40... seconds and only then insert the USB flash drive with the software into the TV. Old Sony TVs are very sensitive to the USB flash drive itself, try old ones with 512 - 1 - 2 Gb.

if i remember until 2gb can be formatted using fat12, try partitioning in 2 x 2 gb fat12

FAT12 is not suitable for USB Flash, there is FAT16 or FAT32, FAT12 is usually used for floppy disks.

the size of the Stick doesn't matter, it should be before formatted converted in MBR mode, so the TV will boot from it, most USB stick are GPT mode TV will pass them

the fact are, old USB from manifacture 2-4 Gb are all MBR , the later 8Gb and above they are GPT. so need to convert them to MBR. that's allt
i have one 64Gb.converted in MBR mode... on it many Firmware copy... i just rename the extension i need then will be booted to install update or downgrade

I have copied "00000100_07e8046a.bin" to the pendrive from "sony_tvupdate_2011_4027_eua_auth.zip". There is no change if I wait for 30-40sec. after G-Y blinking. Also tried to rename upgrade.loader.pkg
I will try to obtain a max. 1GB pendrive and try again.

I also confirmed my stick has MBR partition.
