Hello,

I followed the instructions in post #1.

I also obtained the correct ME firmware version from the WinRAID forum.

Unfortunately, there are several sub-versions in the folder.

Which one is the correct 11.8.50.3460 version?

Use COR_LP_C_NPDM in your case
COR_LP - SKU: Corporate LP
C - SPT/KBP-LP C
NPDM - Power Down Mitigation: No

Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately, I have another question:

11.8.50.3460_CON_LP_C_NPDM_PRD_RGN.bin => 1984KB and 11.8.50.3460_CON_LP_C_NPDM_PRD_RGN.bin => 7176KB
Why are there two files, and what is the difference between them?

As I said, COR = Corporate
CON = Consumer

I couldn't see the forest for the trees. It's amazing what a difference one letter can make. :-)

I downloaded the latest Intel CSME System Tools v11 from the Win-Rais forum and want to use it.

I then opened the file I renamed to ME Region.bin under File => Open.

I can't find the option "Generate Intermediate Files".

Or do I just need to click the green "Build Image" button?

Do I need to select anything other than Premium U besides the LP chipset?

Can someone help me with this? Thanks.

Click the gear shortcut to the left of the "green Build button" That's where you can usually find and disable the option to "Generate Intermediate Files"
Or You can go to Build > Build Settings. Either way don't forget to click OK if the option is tick/untick or simply close the window if the option is Yes/No

Okay, thank you. I've looked several times, but unfortunately, I couldn't find the "Generate Intermediate Files" entry.

=> The file "untitled.xml" was created successfully.

In the next step, according to the instructions, "Copy or move the ME Region.bin to the decomp folder, overwriting the original," I replaced the existing ME Region.bin file with the renamed ME Region file from the repository folder "CSME 11.8 Repository r39."

Then, according to the instructions, I performed the step "Start FIT again, open the untitled.xml file, click on Build, Build Image."

=> After clicking the button, I got a build error.

But I didn't skip any steps, did I? Where am I going wrong?

Sorry for asking these beginner questions so often, but I'm trying hard to learn. :-(

Thanks for the video.

I found the problem.

I had to go to:

- Flash Settings => Option "Flash Components" => Option Number of Flash Components => select "0" by double-clicking

- Integrated Sensor Hub => Option "Integrated Sensor Hub" => Option "Integrated Sensor Hub Support" => select "No" by double-clicking

After that, creating the "outimage.bin" file worked successfully.

This is so frustrating.

The ME firmware cleanup was successful, and I even got "Configured" in the File System State line.

Now I've tried installing it using the FWUpdate Tool and I'm getting error 8743.

I'm seriously wondering, this can't be right. In the BIOS, I see ME Firmware 0.0.0.0. The file is now the correct one.

What's going wrong? :-(

Start over, you have to:
1. Drag and drop the BIOS backup (made with SPI flash programmer) to FIT
2. Click on "Build Settings" (the button with the cogwheel, to the left of Build image)
3. You can change the output filename (optional) and change "Generate Intermediate Files" to No
4. Save the .xml file (default: untitled.xml), and close FIT
5. Go to FIT folder -> (your_BIOS_backup_folder name) -> Decomp and replace the ME Region.bin with 11.8.50.3460_COR_LP_C_NPDM_PRD_RGN.bin, renamed to "ME Region.bin"
6. Open FIT, and load the .xml (untitled.xml or the name you used), then click on Build Image button
7. If it's successful, you get an outimage.bin (or the name you chose in step 3), this file has to be flashed with an SPI flash programmer directly to the BIOS chip, it can't be flashed via software

Don't change "Flash components" or "Integrated Sensor Hub" settings, "Flash Components" has to be "1" if there's only 1 BIOS chip on the motherboard

The winraid guide mentions changing Flash Components, only in the case of creating a ME Firmware update (FWUpdate) file, not for cleaning the ME region on the BIOS chip

Update:

I just tested it again.

If I set the value under "Flash components" to "1" or "2", I get the error described in post 290.

If I set the value to "0", I can create the outimage file.

Is anyone familiar with this issue?
