    Any use for cracked panels?

I just started acquiring cracked LCD and plasmas TV's lately and should have a steady flow going forward. I have just been removing the modular parts to resell them, and any scrap metal. Are the back lights worth harvesting? Is there anything else inside the panel that is worth removing? I am a big fan of recycling and reusing things when possible. I have been putting what's left of the TV on the curb and someone always takes them, but I'm guessing they ultimately end up in a land fill somewhere.

I also have a large box of built in speakers from TV's, as their resale value is terrible. I've been thinking about removing the magnets and scrapping what's left.

I managed to place high on Google for "sell broken lcd/plasma" and similar search terms. If any of you guys live in a metro area and want me to send some broken tv traffic your way, hit me up. This forum has already been a great resource for me and I'd like to give something back when I can.

larger ones (60"+), remove the cracked LCD, leaving only the backlight & diffuser. Using the inverter to light it, they are very bright white light. I've seen quite a few guys make pool table lights out of them.

its fun to put cleaning agents in the cracked screens, makes lots of trippy effects.
or poke the screen and make the lines change. you could take them out on the firing range and look so rich that you use LCD screens for target practice! or see what a high voltage high current transformer such as the one that drives the magnetron in a microwave oven does to them, i heard plasmas look cool!

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

I turn TV with broken LCD panel into light table, or light sources for taking pictures.

I use the bulbs from them to repair sets with bad bulbs, though it's sometimes hard to get one that match, usually if the size/length and connectors are identical it'll work well.

Good stress relief to put a few dents in the LCD, after everything good is removed.

As stated above, pool table lights are a good idea. Also you can make nice luminous signs for advertising whatever.
